... or is it Ford Foci - first Gen 5 door hatchbacks to be precise!

First time I ever get a smash in my classic it's a complete nob in a Focus at the traffic lights who is (illegally) on his mobile and let's his car reverse into me - smashing in my the front of my Mini Cooper Mpi. *illegitimate person* then goes on to deny responsibility 'because he was in his dad's car but luckily I had a witness who told the truth and said *illegitimate person* had to pay up (after a court case with my insurance).

That was 4 years ago but today prior to taking my Mini for it's MOT (dropping the car off early for MOT later in the week) I drive down to the petrol station and before I get there a woman in another sodding Focus decides not to wait for me to drive into the side road she was in (and to ignore the highway code) and slams into my rear drivers side creating a great big sodding dent!

So what the hell is it with bloody Focus drivers ... or is it just me?

P.S. My wife drives a Focus! >_<

i do think its a case of size matters, i seem to get a lot more people pulling out in front of me overtaking and generally doing daft things when im in the mini, not to mention sitting on my rear bumper as well.

Stevee, Jesus and that's a MINI which is bigger (as we all know), thank god I've never had anything like that in the classic which is a trice sketchier on the crash protection!

electricjim, yeah I was thinking that afterwards - strikes me it's getting worse year on year (I notice it more every May/June when I get the classic back on the road) and the cars driving around are getting bigger and bigger as a result of all the crash protection etc. and the drivers seem to get less aware each year as a result. Prob is at what stage do you start to think it's too dangerous driving a Mini 'because of the idiots who are in the rest of the cars on the road!

I've even started to notice more tailgating by 4x4s and the like in my New MINI recently let alone in my classic!

Maybe the solution is to move somewhere where there are less cars and less idiots!

the trouble is it doesnt matter what your in, the idiots always seem to find you.

on the tail gating thing im about to fit a high level brake light that way when they are so close they cant see the other two they might at least notice that one thats if they are not on there mobile or eating toast or putting there make up on or routing through there glove box for something more important than the road :proud:

size does matter when it comes to the road. not only do i have stupid drivers behind me when im in my mini the same stuff happens when my dads driving his smart car(lol he also owns a big 3.2 jaguar :proud:)

i think the main problem is alot people underestimate the mini and i know this is true because when i had my first one wrote off the bloke got out his car and said he didnt realise i was going so quick(please note i was only doing 30 and he was drunk)

but ive also found chavs in corsa's saxos etc tailgate me alot egging me to go quicker(and dont get me wrong im usually going to fast anyway). but ive also noticed different driving styles during the day i.e 8.00 in the morning the roads are mental and people really dont care they will cut you up, overtake etc etc. But then after say about 10.00am the roads are allright and alot people out are quite sensible(to a degree).

but one thing ive learnt about driving a mini is to expect the unexpected and to always pay attention because alot of the time most people really dont see you. But if everyone acctually drove like your ment to then we wouldnt have so many accidents on the road

totally agree. i wouldnt even insure a car without an agreed valuation now after being messed about with the insure the first time round.

didnt have agreed valuation and they offered me £700, argued for about 3 weeks and finally got £2200 and got to keep the old one but i had spent more then that fixing it :proud:

they will only ever do that once to me! i have small car syndrome lol! where i live there are a lot of 4x4s and big cars like volvos, so i have to drive with attitude! if they pull out infront of me i will make sure they know i am there, flash my lights and honk the horn! i dont make it easy for people who try and push me around, i will stand my ground and stick to the highway code, not word for word, but if somebody is overtaking then it is there responsibility to pass you, so if somebody tries it i dont move over or slow down for them!

its great at petrol pumps though, i have skipped waiting as there is a pump free at the front which nobody else can get to!

My grandad bless him, always told me that it's not your driving you have to worry about. It's all these other fools on the road!

Safe to say, he was right!

Get so many idiots out there using the "I didn't see you!" excuse as have had that so many times when on my bike not just in my car, I even had that when driving our old Frontera which was a massive old beast. Some people just don't see past their own bonnets no matter what car they are in.

There are loads of BAD stupid drivers out there.
The thing is with Focus's is that they have been Britans best selling car for a number of years... Meaning that there are a lot more of them on the road than any other car. So it makes sense that the person driving like a pillock, is in a focus as its the most ommon car on the road.

But I am getting REALLY annoyed and fed up with the amount of people who take stupid chances to get one car ahead. Its so bad nowdays.
