Personally i would take anything someone from halfords tell you with a pinch of salt, but thats just my expierience of them.

Personally i would reccomend the rockford fosgate P300.4. But thats because i love Rockford kit, personally though i dont think you would find a better amp for the money.

Looks Ok, but if I was going to spend that much I would get an alpine to match the one I have, way over my budget :shifty:

Rockford are really good but it all depends on what your personal preference is for brands. If you prefer Alpine then try something like their MRV-F307, it's rated at 4x50W but Alpines typically put out more than they are rated at. Another good british brand you could look at would be Genesis but they are a bit more pricey.

Should work fine. You will probably find the sound quality will increase aswell providing you use a decent amp.

Just been chatting to the stereo bloke in halfords and he thinks one of the speakers may be cross wired or is shorting out that is making the HU cut out, so I figure if I am fitting a new amp I will have to strip it all down anyway.

Can you recommend a 4 channel amp that will not be too big to blow the speakers, i was looking at a vibe A3 for £99 but I think it may be too big?

just a quick one... with a sony HU if the speaker cable is shorting some where... the HU says "ERROR" on the display itself... if that helps... so that way you know if it is shorting or it something else...

No error reports, it just turns its self off, then come back on again

Sorry to butt in but ive got the same kind of problem...

I have a sony gigapanel...turn it up loud and it cut out....

Load up the elctrics ie headlights, heater and esp full beam (even without everything else on use the headlamp flash) and it cuts out randomly even on low volume..I am begining to think its alternator not pumping out enough? I'm just running 6inch fusions on the rear shelf and 6x9's under rear seat no amp or anything special?

any ideas?

cheers

Check the alternator output voltage with the car running and all the electrics off. Then turn on the stereo and test again and finally load it up completely. That will tell you if each electrical item is bringing the voltage down or not.

Before spending any money on new amps I'd be having a very close look at your charging system. If the alternators kicking out too much power then the head unit and amps will shut down to prevent damage, equally if the voltage is too low then they will shut down.

Stick your multimeter on the battery with then engine running, you should be seeing about 13.6volts. Try it again with everything switched on and see what you get.

That's what I said a couple of pages back. No one listened.

Because for the previous aplication, nothing was gained when all the electronics were either on nor off, ruleing out over/under powering.

For latestarter2, i would think your right, it sounds to be like an underpowering problem, needing a larger alternator to power everything.
