Hi, basically i'm looking to sell my peugeot 106 and buy a mini, theres one i have my eye on and i can list some specs here, a mater says it should go for less than a grand, just wondering if any of you could give some feedback or opinions or even a recommended buying price!
The mini :
6x12 alloys
stage one kit
bucket seats
harnesses
new bottom arms
tie bar rods
stage 3 head
new grill
Moulded arches
chrome tex mirrors
grille pins
halogen lights
small forumla style bonnet scoop
resprayed ferrari red 18 months ago
black roof
very minimal rust
some industrial tape to keep sealed
new wiring loom needeed
thats pretty much it
basically, is this going to be a good buy in the long run? (i dont know too much so is this going to be really expensive to maintain etcetc)?
very many thanks
pete

Rust is something you have to get used to with a mini, they all rust, and quickly.
things that I`m suspect about are "tape to seal bits" and "wiring loom needed".
Basically without you seeing the car with someone that knows a bit you won`t know what use it is. Try and take someone local that is a mini buff to help. There has to be someone from here lives in Jersey that could help?

Yea, cheers Karl, a mate of mine whos on these forums (Lewis Matthews) tells me that new rubber seals can replace the tape and that he has a wiring loom he can sell and fit for me.

hello i think a big thing aswell as rust is to look at the owner, a good honest person with a pretty standard car should be more reliable than a go boy racer one.

Pug 106!You poor b****rd, what have you done to deserve that piece of poo?
Sounds like a beautiful ride, stage 3 head and stage 1 kit would be a nice place to start enginewise, although ideally you're going to get rid of that for a 1275 block, or one of it's variants I.E. 1380.
Suspension wise, I would like to know, are the tie bars and bottom arms adjustable? They may need new bushings depending on the age of the car, but that is pennies! What about Hi-Lo's and lowered dampers, does it come with them?
Styling wise, it sounds spot on!
A new wiring loom and seals(window ones I presume?)on top of the price sounds like a deal!!
Check for rust on the scuttle panel and sills. Make sure the subframes are in good nick also, that's a big job if you find out they're f**ked!
