Some useful info here on making a complaint - might help you get at least some of your money back :

Lanzerote was quite nice as a place to visit, we did get lost in a 3rd world suburb of Ericife when the road we were on split unexpectantly, we then took 30 mins trying to find away out to a motorway....

I have to say i've been to Rhodes (greek island), Crete, and Corfu and never had a problem. Altho the first two were privately prganised (which saves a fair amount of cash, and the corfu one was a lads holiday organised by Olympic. I'd recommend them!

Most of southern Spain, The Canaries, The Balearics, Crete, Cyprus, and Zante, Greece are no-go places for me. The risk of finding yourself somewhere horrific is too high.

Yeah , I went to Gran Canaria and it werent that bad I suppose as a place , except from the people shouting at you to go into their restaurant etc.
The hotel was quite bad , but not much to worry about , it was cheap enough , so no worries , also Ryan Air are the worst , most uncomfortable planes I have ever been in

I found Cyprus a really nice and laid back place, didn't see any trouble or have heard of any horror stories from there.

Try Costa Lindia resort in Rhodes!! one amazing hotel...7 swimming pool, 3 bars and a blue sky!! amazing...best holidays we have ever had..Spain is for single people who sleep at someone elses hotel...
And if you do go on holilday then go just after the hotel open for the yearly rush!! its soooo much better!

my dads got an apartment in egypt, i flew out there with my sister, uncle and two cousins, me and my sister stayed in the apartment, and my unc and cousins went to a hotel, as not enough room in the apartment, me and my sister went to their hotel one evening for something to eat, i found bannanas that were black with mould, out for people to eat, and i bit into a bread roll, and it was mouldy blue inside, because we had been drinking we were peeing ourselves laughing, and taking pictures of the mouldy roll, the staff were stood around laughing with us as well, haha, i think i got some pictures somewhere. Their hotel was organised by thomson as well, lol

Ive done that with no reply - I will try BBC South Today next, they helped a Barclays customer who had his £45000 mislaid by them!

There are also Holidays From Hell TV programmes which yours should qualify for. They need more stories on one subject to fill their schedules than the local news progs.

Might try them, in the mean time....

I have been sending some emails out this morning to various media. I am now due to appear on BBC Radio Berkshire at 720am tomorrow morning to talk to Peachy on his drive time show - so you can hear all about it then if you want to tune in!

..Spain is for single people who sleep at someone elses hotel...

and how many times have you been out here? the original posters comments were about one tiny island not the other 503,184 km2.

I live in the north in a region called catalonia, and yes there are some horrible hotels (a fair few in lloret de mar) there are thousands of lovely places to stay.

Please do not tar an entire country with the same brush from one bad experiance.
