My mate skip, (skippyminiracing on here,) Made the mistake of letting a mate take his car around a disused airfield. After warning him to take it steady, he came barreling round a bend to see a 4x4 in front of him. rather than swerving left onto more tarmac he went right Onto the verge, Hit the embankment and flipped it.

Words can not describe how upset I am, Let alone how skip feels. He's had the car since he was 12, and as he wasn't in the car at the time he had to watch the whole thing unfold.

Heres a few pictures.

The back end has come away relatively unscathed, (as Did Ray who was driving it, luckily,) so to save having to scrap it completely, we'll be making a trailer out of it. At least that way in one way or another it'll still be going to shows with him.

R.I.P Sid. You'll be missed.

Glad no one was hurt and that you'll be able to enjoy the car in a small way :(

Will the mate be buying Skippy a new Mini then, don't know what insurance would make of it...

That is really sad to hear, but a very silly mistake to let someone else drive his mini.....

What a waste..

Indeed, luckily Skips fairly forgiving, and Ray has pretty much resigned himself to taking a loan out to pay it back. We were doing Skips mini mayfair up for Him, but He's now just handed it and all the parts back to skip, including a rather tasty set of 12x6 chrome superlights :(

Plus after hearing about it Ray's dad kicked him out so he's actually having to live with Skip...

Just means we've got to crack on and get the mayfair done. there isn't much welding, most of it is just painting tbf.

Ouch! glad he got out ok but I would be seriously annoyed at him!
Is he going to give your mate any cash or anything? Or is it just his car, his loss? The insurance wont be of any use I am guessing as it wasnt on the road and him driving. I think I would have him owe me a car!

If that had been my car he would NOT have been ok! may have walked away from the accident but would definitely have some bruises!! lol

Shame the car was written off but i do hope he does pay for a replacement.

Expensive way to learn a lesson though, for both the owner and driver.

Think Raymond's going to take out a loan to pay Skip back The, at least, £2k the car is worth. It owes him about £3k for the restoration and the repairs so we'll have to see.

We're busy trying to price up whats needed for the Mayfair at the minute.
