I haven't seen much classic mini with brighter lights on this forums. Is anybody running a H.I.D. Kit? Or is it not possible?

Sorry if this topic has been brought up in the past. I wasn't able to do a search on "hid".

Thanks in advanced!

thanks for the fast reply!

so, I don't need to buy a new headlight to fit a h4 bulb? I'm not sure if my stock head light can fit a h4 bulb type.

EDIT: nvm, just read the requirement for fitting this conversion. Looks like I would have to buy a halogen h4 headlamp first. I'll probably buy a H.I.D. kit from DDM tuning since it cost about $40 for 55w H.I.D. kit.

$40?... but the link in this tread goes to an "E" marked kit... fully road legal! would you not prefer that?

I would pick it up no doubt but for $190 when other company sells a hid kit for $40 is a huge price gap. I would rather use the $150 to buy the h4 halogen headlamps and have the cops catch me riding dirty with a illegal hid kit. :(

I'm positive I would still get pulled over with that moss kit since it's 3x brighter then a 55w hid kit.

fair do's....

the HID kits are designed to be much much brighter anyway so the item saying "3 times brighter" is the whole reason you was converting over to HID anyway rite?

Yezzir. The brighter, the better but I'm satisfied with the output of the 55w.

I would love to see some pictures of that moss kit though. I bet it's as bright as a Audi projector lights.

Any HID conversion on a mini here in the UK would be illegal....

For HID's to be road legal in the UK, they need to be self levelling and also have a wash mechanism, and as far as I'm aware there is no self leveling system for the 7" mini bowl headlight system.

As for where you are you would need to check your local lighting regulations

Here in hawaii, hid kits are also illegal. If your car didn't come with hid stock, you'll get a fine if a cop catches you.

But I notice that people with hid only get a ticket if their hid is over 8000+k which gives out a blueish/purple light which is really noticeable/illegal. I have a Z32 twin turbo with a 55w 4700k hid kit and I've never got a ticket nor hassled since it only display a bright white light unlike the 8000k & up which gives out that blueish/purple feel to it.

But if the mini head lamp has no self leveling system, I would hate to be the driver on the other side of the road. Lol

Plus the mini headlight level sucks well mines do anyways my high beams looks like a regular headlight low beam off a Toyota prius. Can't even tell I'm using the high beam which I do use on a daily.

I have 55/60 on one side and 55/100 on the other on my 66 hornet. I have had them on for 2 years and have only ever had to replace the the bulb once.

I always do this conversion to every car I have if i don't have halogens or if i have those poxy sealed beam headlights.

The hornet has external running lights so does not need the extra fitting for the parking light, but it is there on the lamps I bought on ebay.

In the past I have gone to motorcycle breakers to get rectangle and round lamp housings. I don't know where any are where i live so i bought a pair on ebay. I did not wire any extra relays or circuits or any extra thicker wires or anything like that, and I did not replace the broken socket yet so one of them is 3 spade terminals.

Half of my wiring is 97 but these lights went in long before and were originally powered off my generator, then off my small alternator, and now off the mpi alternator, and I have not experienced any problems with them.
