Size doesn't matter. Use the same as before. If you've increased the compression ratio a lot it may burn hotter so if it misbehaves on BP6's try 7's.

Also depends quite a lot on the coil and ignition you use....

but from personal experience, don't bother spending extra money on anything out of the ordinary, splitfires, super copper cored ones or anything like that, waste of money...

If it's a budget build 1380, then BP6ES ( points ) or BPR6ES ( electronic ignition ) are probably good for the job, but as Ethel points out, if it's running a little higher on compression then 7's may be a better option, it's really a suck it an see type of decision... 8's would be way too cold.

it doesnt really matter what bore size it is,the engine build spec and use is more important.
If its got a well modded head and different cam spec and its used for all types of driving, them bp7es will be fine as long as the carb and timing are as they should be.Bp6es will be ok if you only do a lot of low speed driving, the worse that will happen with a colder plug is it will foul up,you can check how they are after a bit of use to see what there like,if too cold they will have alot of carbon build up.if too hot the insulator and electrode will be clean with a glazed appearence.
I currently run bp8es in my 1380,286 cam high lift rockers, longman rally spec head, aldon ay 100 vaccum dizzy with points.no problems with these, but i dont tend to do a lot of town driving.
Wouldnt bother with any fancy plugs,as even though they work ok,there no better than a normal type, just alot more expensive.
B6's are ok in a standard/or low speed driven motor.
I would start with bp7es and see how it goes.
whats the spec of the motor and whats it main useage?

Champion N6Y (may have some other details added on to that basic spec) - use nothing less!

hi guys thanks for all the advice

The spec is swiftune sw05 cam, stage 3 head, 1.5.1 rockers, ay100 aldon dizzy with electronic ignition, compression ratio around 10.5:1.
i tend 2 use mine for town driving and some long runs

cheers

considering you use your mini for all types of driving, and looking at spec i would use ngk bp7es,they have a broader operating range due to having a copper core.
Most of the other makes tend to be more critical with regards to the heat range selected.
According to mr vizard the bp7 covers the same heat range as champion n8y and n9y.
The bp8's are the equivelant of champion n7y and n6y.
Ngk,higher number the faster it dissipitates heat(short heat path),commonly called a 'colder plug'.
Champion,higher number(longer heat path)so remains hotter longer,Known as a 'hotter plug'.
The result of using a too hot plug is pre ignition due to the electrodes becoming so hot they ignite the fuel before the spark, followed by detonation and melted pistons.
using too cool a plug will only cause deposits to build up and eventually short out so no spark,no damage done.
what plugs are you currently using,or has it not been run yet?

Your spec is almost identical to mine (before I took it out to start the Vauxhall conversion) and I always ran it on BPR7ES without any problems,
