How many of these Mini's are actually still around?

Very few I think, even mine is long gone but remember Mini's were not yet a classic car then and still in production and in common everyday use so you could always find another cheaper than any major restoration work being worthwhile...........even the Mk1 Cooper S was only just starting to be desirable and could be picked up as a cheap project car still.

Well there is one more that caught my attention, this Jag powered creation below with the corny but funny name.
Posted Image

We've had a few Jag powered Mini's in the UK Drag Racing scene over the years and below is the most famous at Blackbushe,
in fact we still have a jag powered mini running today with the same name.

If anyone had any old drag racing pictures or movies I'm always on the lookout for new (old) material for my website and forum, we're also lucky enough to
have a great bunch of members on our forum like you lot here.
Thanks everyone.

These pictures have been a great trip down memory lane and show how it used to be done. Thanks for posting. I've been one your website a spent many an hour looking through all the old pictures and see loads of cars that were about in the '70's, great stuff.

By the way, here's a picture of one of the survivors, the Beach Car appeared at Gaydon earlier this month.

A mate of mine has a crayford heinz 57 hornet, i wonder if this is his....... on saying that though, his wasn't originally a white one, his started out birch grey, then was metallic blue, and is now old english white.
that one in that picture looks as if it is white..... not too sure though, what with the picture being b&w lol

I have an advert for this conversion in the 1966 2nd edition of 'Tuning a Mini' by Clive Trickey a well known Mini 7 racer who used to write for Cars & Car Conversions magazine.

Quote:
" A complete "Do-it-yourself" conversion kit in primer finish only - can easily be sprayed and fitted in a few hours" £24 complete including packing.

I've seen that advert before, the garage is no longer there anymore (I live in farnham)
