honestly if you want a carb mini just buy one it will be alot simpler.

as for the stage 1 kit generally the more you spend the better they are.generally!

I'm with miniboo.... save yourself a lot of work and get a carbed mini.....

but if you stick with the SPI, and change to carb, I wouldn't bother with any of the stage 1 kits as most are designed for 998's...

You'll want...

A decent alloy inlet for an HIF44,
A Stage/Phase 2 Maniflow LCB
Either a 1.3/4 RC40 or Maniflow 1.3/4 system

apart from the things to convert from injection to Carb

Unlike other places, Minispares have actually properly developed seperate stage 1 kits for each type of engine. They are probably the best developed kits available and at a good price.

You realise that there is almost no chance your car will pass the emissions test in the MOT if you do this? It will still have to be tested to the same standard even if you remove the SPi setup. It's not the easiest thing to swap every MOT time or every time you get pulled by a drive through emissions station. You will have to swap the whole engine to a pre '92 unit and have proper documents to prove the age of the engine.

Can't you have it tested by the more leanient emissions test if you can prove the engine is of the pre '92 era?

yes you can jammy but how do you prove it?

my car is a 1993 with a 1989 metro engine.

i know this from guessworks faq on engine numbers but i doubt i can use that as proof!

Didn't I say that?

OK, just read what I wrote and it wasn't clear. Sorry about that, I did meant to point that out.
