how come they never did a MG MINI?

really why didn't they?

wondered what a MG mini would of looked like and ran like Eg:

Rover 200 1.4 8 valve = 75 bhp MG ZR 1.4 16 valve = 103.5 bhp

same chassie, ecu, wiring loom & the head & final drive are diff

but get what im getting at? what do you think?

the engine would have been the mg metro engine. and the power isn't greatly above a coopers. i'm pretty sure in one of the mini books it says it was considered but there was always a sports model available so it wouldn't have been worth it. the ERA turbo could almost count though? in spirit at least.

They did make an MG version of the Cooper S in 1963. It had an MG grille, Hornet side grilles and different seats and trim. At least one car was made to this spec, as just such a car survives in a private collection.

Are there any pictures of this car?

I only knowthe 'MG Gnat', a MG styled race Mini from the 60s, quit cool looking (perhaps that's the car you were on about @ mars red mike?) :P

I do know they did try to phase out the A-series and but in the K-series , creating the MINKI , they did 2 prototypes of these but never caught on. Maybe aswell because K-series are terrible engines.
