Just wondered if one can have diffrent sets of wheels front and back?
Not sure of 6 and 7" but 5,5" and 6" in the back perhaps?

Will it make a diffrence in handling?

Comments, and pictures are most welcome :shifty:

It would be more usual to put the bigger wheels on the front of a Mini since it does most of the work.

Having wider wheels on the back will tend to make the car understeer, as the front of the car does all the work and the back is just 'dragging' along behind. Having more grip on the rear will mean the car will tend to push the front out.

We used to run wider (and larger) wheels on the front of my old stock racing Mini and smaller 10's on the back (see the orange car in my sig). This meant the car had most grip on the front and the back would tend to start to loose traction before the front, giving a much more controlable car, and a much quicker car around the track.

For on the road use, I shouldn't think it'll make much difference, but on a track the difference would be felt.

yeah, forgot to mension that its for road use only, but with a modified 1100 engine.

Just wondered from a cosmetic view, thought it would look nice with deeper rims in the back :shifty:

But I dont want to ruin the handling if its a mayor diffrence...but if its just a small diff, then I might try it..

I don't imagine it would effect regular street driving much at all.
It's somewhat common for FWD import show cars to run staggered wheels just to get the rears to fill up the arches.

its all in the design-phase but when time comes Ill post pics :dontgetit:

silverbullet: thanks, Ill get back when its time for the wheels. Always easier the see it in real-life, and cheaper than bying and the 'Trial 'n error'-method :tumble:
