I'm with Virgin... Unlimited downloads and no line rental are the reasons I stick with Virgin.

Ahem 'legal' downloads, but not slightly 'illicit' downloads. :)

They say unlimited downloads, but that includes things like downloading a song off iTunes. If any ISP throttled that they'd be shot, its common practice, but claimed as brilliant service.

Main reason for switching to Virgin is my son's addiction to his PS3. I understand gaming uses a lot of bandwidth and he is always loosing his connection. This really "upsets" him when it happens in the middle of a game. I hope the switch will solve the problem.

My house had problems with Virgin's gaming capabilities even on 50 meg but to be honest i think that there are problems with all ISP's and you'll never find one which offers the service everyone wants.

TalkTalk are shocking gaming wise. The download block on their line cannot diffrentiate between gaming and downloads, so you're constantly losing connection or being disconnected from the server.

it was a bit of a strange one when i was over at uni, i used to watch alot of stuff on tvcatchup because we didnt have tv's so that streaming through the internet on my PS3 the service was alright, used to break up every now and then. The times i went online on a game i didnt often get problems with my connection dropping out..sure used to get the odd problem periodily.
this was at the same time my laptop was playing silly bugger and so was other guys in the house, almost like my ps3 had right of way :)

Surely everything that you look at on the web is a download (even TMF) - it all chokes up their bandwidth.

When you "download" a file the only difference is you save it as a file somewhere on your pc rather than to your browser's cache.
