I've had spax and they corrode and flake away. Not so sure about gaz i know they are a reputable company but to be honest i don't think there is any shcoks better than the protechs. I mean even Zcars use them i guess that says something. As for the rear turrets you don't have to strengthen them if your arches are fine (no rust/rot/holes) However unless your rallying it should be fine.

ok so you reckon the little bit extra for the protechs are worth it? If you dont mind me asking how much did you pay from protech themselves?

Ok well yeh it'll be mainly used on the road and on track. How long have you been using the protechs for?

Here's the thing i did buy from huddersfield spares but i did it at a himley hall mini show! I was able to barter with them in a deal with some wheels. It was their last set and i got them down to around 400 i think. I found it fine to buy them of huddersfield as long as the products are there and i can check them.(they are rubbish at postage and i had to wait for my wheel nuts for months even though they said they had just forgot them at their shop). I did email protech before i went to the show as i was going to buy them straight of the company but obviously i went a different route. Im sorry but i can't remeber how much i was quoted but it was less.

thats all good thankyou anyway. It worries me buying from Huddersfield as im in Australia so if anythings not right its kinda hard to chase it all up and thats the reason i was going to go spax becasue minispares sold them and i have heard great things about them.

Hye,

Ive been doing some research and asking around about coil over mounting.

I had a chat to and a guy here in Aus. He makes his own coil overs for minis and said that he highly recommends bracing the coilovers as much as possible because his engineer view is that the inner wing and rear arches shouldnt be trusted to withstand the stress. So he has used on his cars a rear suspension top from a 1980's Subaru Wagon that is filed to suit the shape of the arch and is fixed with 2 bolts to the arch and then through the original shock mounting.

Then at the front he has made a bracket that fits over the 2 subframe bolts at the top and bottom then the bracket that is supplied with the coilovers fits to that (if all that makes sense) so all the weight and stress is put through the subframe.

But yeh thought i would share what i have found out and let you know roughly what im going to do.

Thanks Blake

i know you said its a weekend toy and track kinda car, but what kinda roads to be driven on? miglias run coilovers im sure but then you have to think they only have to worry about smooth tarmac, maybe the odd grass on a run wide and perhaps a kerb stone. saying that it cant hurt to add a little bracing to the shock mounts but adding another vehicles turret seems a tad ott
