I have no problem with visibility whatsoever, night time driving being greatly improved.
At almost the same price as those silly Angel Eye headlights (and E marked,) I'd recommend them to anyone...

I know they aren't they are the HID kit's themselves, the auto self levelling lights I've been looking at on Mini Spare's are £50ishThat's wont be the auto self leveling ones thoughI've been looking at a few conversion kits, they seem to be in the region of £125-£150.
I have HID's without self levelling and washers, they work fine.. I check the beam at work and it was identical to the standard bulbs..
If you do buy some 8k (More whitey blue but less lumens(Less light)) is good but can sometimes be overpowered by the likes of street lamps.. (But then you don't really need bright headlights then..)
They are awesome down country lanes!
So I'd imagine 6k was the best value!
See Here
The maximun you need for lights is 6000k as after that the light range becomes less visible and useful so essentially you have wasted your money and that's when you start attracting the attention of the police as they start to go too blue
I need some new headlight unit's as mine got reversed into the other day so thinking of upgrading everything, I'm already running upgraded bulbs atm but fancy something that little bit more during these winter nights which are fast approaching

I got pulled over in my old car (Not for the lights), by the proper police (not like a little local panda car!) and they asked about it, they said they seemed a bit white but couldn't see the problem with them..
Youve been lucky with those police officers then. You quite often get them asking and the usual answer people give is, 'Oh, there just blue coated bulbs to give a white light' Some officers buy it, some ask them to turn there lights off and on again, at this point they here the humm of the ballasts for the HIDs firing up and the gradual increase in brightness after arcing for a few seconds and oops, youve been caught.
Admitadly it diddnt use to be very common for police officers to do this, but apparently there now getting alot hotter on these and are pulling more people for them.
Just a friendly warning now, better than them givng you a PG9 and not letting you use your car!

Edit - Just to add, im fairly sure anything other than 4300k temperature isnt legal either, all factory OEM fitted vehicles use a 4300k light temperature on there HID options.

Rusty, what bowls did you use for the self levelling lights? (they aren't on the photos you linked... at least not without going through all the pages!)

the lights on minispares ARE NOT AUTO SELF LEVELLING. They are just levelling lights (from the Mpi) that need you to change a switch on the dash, and as such DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE LAW ON HIDS.
I know that, I was referring to the HID kit was £125 and the lamps which are marked up as AUTO LEVELLING on the Spares website are £50ish each, I was only copying what's been said on there
EDIT: If you read Rusty's post on the other page you'd see he says he DOESN'T have self Levelling lights or washer.

if you could find some way of making those bowls auto self levelling, then it would work fine (once washers have been added). But i guess that's the hard, and therefore expensive part.
Like I said, for me, I would spend the the money on getting halogens to work efficiently.
Edit: Why did I read "with self...." oops!

Yeah, 4300k is the standard colour but alot of manufacturers offer upto 8000k (Land rover being one of them I think), if they were 4300k they would have hardly any white tint.
And between the two cars they've been on now it's been about 2 years without a problem (Being pulled over a handfull of times), I guess if there set up right they shouldn't really cause an issue, if they were blinding everyone then yeah you have a problem..
Oh and another thing to add, technically if you want it to be done properly aswell as the washers, self levellers I believe you also need them to be behind projector lenses, like the glass sphere type.
Also, just to add I don't believe you need to spend £125 to get a good kit, mine cost £65 in a group buy (should of cost £85) but they have caused me no problems what so ever.

I think HID's are something I'm going to look into soon, as I say atm I need new headlamps due to one being smashed as I can't get hold of the same ones from my local motor factors anymore.
