Right, ive bought the kit MSSK2001 and MSSK2003 from minispares, ive had the alarm in for a little while now and only just got round to fitting the central locking. my problem is, i have no idea when it comes to interconnecting the two.

On the plug in connector for the alarm i have a blue wire, and a green wire which produce a negative pulse. one is for lock, the other unlock. i dont know which is which as it doesnt tell you in the manual (the manual is pants)

and on my Central locking kit, i have a loom type connector with red wires, and blue wires, which supposedly lock/unlock the car when a negative pulse is recieved. Again, no say of which is which in the instructions, only that it says: "The 2 pin connector with red and blue wires is not used. if connecting to our remote control system you will normally connect to the brown and purple wires. These trigger the locking when they recieve a negative pulse"

The alarm itself is a Omega k-9 mundial 4, and the cental locking kit has no name to it other than i have an email and contact number which are [email protected] and 01279 411014

and as its bank hol monday im not going to be able to get hold of either them or minispares.

help would be greatly appreciated

after looking at some other manuals on the internet for other omega alarms it seems green is a -pulse for locking, and blue is a -pulse for unlocking.

now i need to know what the red and blue are on the central locking kit

Sod it, i cant find anything on the internet after an hour an a half of searching so im just going to guess at red is lock and blue is unlock and go from there.

eliminate the wires you do know, and you will hopefully be left with 2. fit the kit, and just tape the wires together. if it works, great, if not, try the other way round, and that should! Then connect them properly.

tried connecting the two from the alarm to the two from the central locking and im getting nothing, if that was it but the wrong way around it would do the opposite of what you wanted. so im stuck with no idea again

so what wires have you got on the units? I'm guessing 4... a positive, an earth, and an in and out?

on the alarm itself i have 2 wires, both supposedly negative pulse, one for locking, one for unlocking. and on the central locking itself i have a connector which has a bunch of red wires, and a bunch of blue, of which are supposedly for a remote central locking kit to be used with a fob instead of using the key itself

As far as I understand, there should be two spare wires on the C/L kit. These are definitely for you to interface with the alarm. You are right about the negative pulses too.

I interfaced a much cheaper kit with a factory fitted alarm/immobiliser. That kit had two spare wires which needed to be connected to the alarm ecu. However, I made my own interface harness, which would not work until i earthed the connection between the two. Not 100% sure if this will work for you though.

hmm, the alarm 'should' send out a negative pulse to green when you press arm to lock, and another on the blue when you disarm. then the red and blue on the central locking, one should be lock, and the other unlock. but when connected to the alarm it does nothing.

just been playing with the multimeter, and there is only voltage briefly at red when you lock the doors, and the same for blue when you unlock.

so im guessing that the red and blue are earths to the motors of some sort, but neither are connected to earth itself when the locks are doing nothing. i also have at the locking relay a permanent earth, and a brown wire, and a purple wire

After much effing and blinding, and countless hours trying to find out how it works on the internet and then giving up and poking things with a test lamp,
Its workingggggggggggggg

SOOOOOOO, to connect the minispares MSSK2001 central locking kit, to the MSSK2003 keyless entry kit and alarm, you have to:

Ignore the connector with red and blue

Connections are as follows:
Brown on the central locking is the UNLOCK trigger wire, and purple on the central locking is the LOCK trigger wire.
The alarm trigger wires are, Green for LOCK and blue for UNLOCK.

As the connections are doubled up on the central locking relay you only have to splice into one cable of each colour. So Green to Purple, and Blue to Brown.

and i strongly feel the post above should be a sticky so as nobody has to go through as much of a farce as i did, and dont blow anything up or fry anything when theyre 'testing' things to find out what they do. (i knew what i was doing when i was poking around, i also had a multimeter to hand)

Purple and Brown? Just had a gander at a mates mini with this on and his were Pink and Orange. :S

No it's not going to be pinned, if everything that people needed to reference was pinned at the top of the section there would be ten pages of pinned threads before any new threads could appear. That is what the FAQ section is for. It might go in the FAQ but it might not.

I understand that you've had a frustrating day with this but I don't think it's really the fault of the instructions you were given. Partly because the manual for the locking kit told you to ignore the blue/red connector anyway but you decided it was important (it's for connecting either a rear door pack or boot release to the locking relay by the way. The electronics is not only used in Minis). But mostly because you should have 2 manuals with your alarm, the first is the user manual and as you say is pretty useless when it comes to telling you how to fit the alarm. Because that's not what it's for. There should also be an installation manual, you say you've had the alarm a while so presumably you've lost it. The installation manual is not on the web for the same reason that the installation information is not in the user manual, security. I too have lost my installation manual for this alarm, it is annoying. Sorry if this comes across as harsh but I really think you've been chasing yourself a bit on this.

I've also just bought the same 2 kits from Minispares... and after reading the instructions for both Central Locking and Alarm, I couldn't figure this out - don't remember seeing anything about purple and brown in the installtion instructions....
