Cheers guys!! Sorry i hvnt replied for ages, have literally just taken the sub apart, and found the specific sub name.

Its a Soundstream Rubicon 12, in excellent condition so far as i can tell. Its 4 ohms, other than that i cant find any info online. Spoundstream appear to have a vvery poor support system for their older stuff. Cant fidn the specs for it anywhere ;)

New ones (still boxed) are selling for $80 on ebay... so im not gunna complain for £3 :D#

Dont suppose anyone knows any good websites for getting sub spec sheets/information?!

have a search over on http://www.talkaudio.co.uk/ipb/ 99% sure you'll find the specs you need on there. Be prepared to get very addicted though and spend lots of money, lol.

would i be right in saying most amps have a level adjusting knob so, if he had a larger amp to run his sub, he could turn the amp level down to suit his sub and thus leaving room for improvements in the future like stronger amp or amping larger speakers like 6*9 etc with a 4 channel amp??

Right.. after a couple of hours further searching, i've narrowed it down to 250W RMS. Albeit still nothing in the way of actual spec sheets, just two lines of text on a forum :- And it runs on a single voice coil (which means nothing to me, i assume its like one terminal?) So my best bet is to find an amp with a similar or larger output right? ie 250W +?

*logs onto ebay...*

RUBICON 12" SUBWOOFERS

What makes a great subwoofer? Frightening performance. Maximum flexibility. And tight tolerance construction. Rubicon subwoofers are all that. But what is really important is head-bashing, ear-splitting bass. That's where Rubicon really stomps the comp. Nobody does bass like Soundstream, and there's no better value than Rubicon. They sound great, they perform in tiny enclosures, and they're built with a maniacal fanaticism for quality. A perfect match for the new Rubicon amplifiers.

Rubicon12
RATED POWER: 250W PEAK
RECOMMENDED ENCLOSURE SIZES:
0.75 to 1.5 CU FT SEALED
1.75 to 3.0 CU FT VENTED

Four layer 4 ohm voice coil
Oversized dust dome acts as a voice coil cooling piston as well as improving cone torsional rigidity for more accurate tonal reproduction
Vented pole piece provides forced air cooling for maximum heat dissipation
Reinforced fibrous pulp cone with specially tooled, high-roll polyether foam surround
Red KaptonTM former for maximum heat resistance and reliability
High temperature copper voice coil wire for improved durability
High emissivity coatings improve thermal transfer and minimize thermal breakdown
Performs great in numerous enclosures including bandpass, sealed, ported and transmission line

Seriously where do people find this stuff?! I think i'm useless at google searching :-

Perfect example of the problem i'm having though, havent found anything definitive saying whether the subs are 250W RMS or Peak. Obv quite a difference between the two..
