ive have a problem with my front wheel. a month or so ago i noticed a knockin noise y drivin and stopped to find that the hub nut had loosened itself while the split pin was in. this resulted in me having a mangled split pin wedge in the thread between the hub nut and the cv joint :) it has just started makin the same noise again nd whn i took look at the nut again it was just starting to do the same thing as before.

can anyone shed some light on this issue because im not sure whats caused it. its recently had the wheel bearings and cv joint replaced so i cant see it being that

Sounds like it was incorrectly torqued when the CV and bearings were done. If the bearing isn't properly seated before final torqueing this is prone to happen. You will probably have to replace both the bearings and CV again now, the hub will likely be OK.
