Highjacking a little, but in Africa on slow internet and cant afford to search all day.
Been given a price of 500quid labour only to replace both N/S and O/S sills.
45 extra for parts. I know that inner sills need doing too but thats not included in price. Too me that sounds a little silly, but opinions please :(
thanks

£600 for mine, inside n out, 2 colours, plus new sills n rear valance and door skins

I dont know how people can charge so little for resprays and repairs. To do a sill properly you have to cut off the old one, repair the rust underneath (because there will be if the outer sill is rusted), rustproof and paint, weld on the new one (spot weld if you want it as original), prime and paint. Door skins are not easy to get right either.

Painting a Mini to a good finish takes a lot of prep work, especially on the seams, otherwise you end up with rust coming through within a year or so. A good quality primer/paint/thinners will end up costing you around £250. And its a very labour intensive job. My father restored Mini's, Astons and Jags for a living so I've seen the amount of work that goes in to get a good finish on a car.

£250 is a fair price for a good job.

As for £450 resprays, you get what you pay for and thats the end of that. Same with £600 and £800 resprays.

Start to pay anywhere from £1200 upwards and expect to get a decent job.

Hi everyone i'm after some advice as to whether or not £250 sounds reasonable for repairing some cracked filler in my near side rear quarter panel. The body shop will be repairing and painting the whole of the damaged panel. If this is a bit steep are there any recommended body shops near Kings Lynn, Norfolk?
Can possibly get a better picture if required but the majority of the damage is visible.

Many thanks, Evan.

hi mate i would say that is a good price. i repaired the rear quarter for a cooper s rally car that found a ditch that i had to pull out the quarter and seam out fill and paint i charged £300 to 3 days to get it right.

so all in all id say that your price is good.

Yep £250 is very reasonable for a good job. Lovely mini too by the way.

Where respray cost is concerned, it's a bit of a minefield. A proper body shop will charge anything from £1000 upwards for a repaint, and generally speaking, anything done for much less will be rushed and won't be so good, you can't make it cost effective otherwise. On the other hand, there are people who will charge alot less, just because they like doing it, or it;s a favour for a mate, etc etc. I used to spray cars for about £800, that's "mates rates", and the finish was just as good as the £1000+ ones I was doing for work.

Oh and JimmyH, I'd have said that price is a little steep just to fit two outer sills. If it included inners and any other corrosion in the area then it would be cheap.

Thanks for the kind comments, i may book it in to get it repaired very soon then, only as long as they can match the finish and colour as i would hate to look at the car and see a different shade of paint. In my opinion it would ruin my mini.

cooper s wannabe: The bodyshop actually told me 3 days aswell for the repair so it seems to be a genuine quote for the amount of time spent on the rear quarter.
