Hi I am currently having a 1275gt restored, should be back soon with most of the bodywork replaced, my question is it has a metro lump in but i have never seen or heard it working.

Should i get it replaced or repaired?

If replaced what should i replace it with, insurance is not a problem as im an old fart lol, want power and comfort.

I would certainly think about getting it stripped down and inspected to make sure all is well or not as the case may be. Would be worth then getting it modified but not too mad if you want comfort and not an all balls out screamer.

i would do what im doing, strip it down in to pieces and do all the checks put it back together and try running it, or you could send it off to be looked at by professionals, good luck with your restoration

I had a rare vauxhall with a dodgy engine. A mate gave - yes gave me an engine which had only 95K on the clock. I swapped it, and ran it for a while before one day it exploded. I say Exploded because a conrod destroyed the block, the sump and the starter motor on it's way out. I can't help wondering, if I'd taken the sump off and fitted new ARP big end bolts, and perhaps a new oil pump, whether it would have happened. Just a thought.
