buy what you can easily afford, if you buy a cheap spanner and break it, it will still cost less
to replace it than to by a snap-on one..... I use spanners at work and don't have any snap-on
etc, and haven't broke any spanners yet, Aldi kit is pretty ok aswell... have Laser mainly at home
done me proud...

It's, I think, less than £20 for a set of the halfords spanners. I couldn't actually recommend anything Significantly cheaper than that which I'd want to use myself. Given than you need AF tools, there aren't actually that many cheap options.

Halfords all the way, if you buy the professional range you get a life time garantee, i have managed to break stuff through mis-use and they never quibble about it just swap the item like for like. Can't reccomend them enough!!

Look out for a classic car shows or vintage machinery shows. That is where I have bought most tools. It can be a bit hit and miss sometimes but stuff at the shows is usually a lot cheaper. I have only had one spanner that my dad bought at a show that has broken on me.

Halfords as everybody else has suggested have good quality.

Even if you do have the money I wouldn't buy snap on stuff. Its over priced and over rated. My dad was given a set of snap on ring spanners by a scaffolder at work. We haven broken about half a dozen of them (over a period of about 15 years). Whether they were genuine I don't know but either way you can get just as good quality without paying as much.

what is the point in spending £15-£20 0n one spanner when for diy use
a cheap one is more than adequate, I use my spanners at work and haven't broke one yet and they
are cheapo ones, Who's the fool.... OK If money was no object then I may buy more expensive Branded kit
but I'm happy to be a tight arse and buy budget.. We have a lad at work who buys Snap-on and he still borrows
other peoples stuff, he probably doesnt want to get his stuff dirty cause its too bloody expensive!!!!!!

I did by some Magnussen ratchet spanners from B&Q in their sale and they are good.
