I've basically gone through Mini Mag and emailed all of the advertisers in there for prices for a 100bhp engine.
MED and KAD have come back with the most expensive prices, but I know they have good reputations- KAD offer to dyno the engine in that price whereas no other company offered me that option.
Would they be a good choice of company or would I be better off going for someone else? I got good prices from MiniSpeed and Mini Sport, but I am not sure of their reputations for engines. The alternative it to buy and engine kit, but I don't feel confident enough to go down that route.
Thanks for your advice.

ian hardgreaves from avr-technologies (avonbar racing) will build you a really nice unit 01279 873428.
Ah I wondered if Avonbar still existed. Avonbar is a name I remember from my last dablings in Mini ownership!

What sort of prices are you getting quoted Steven? I've just bought a non running 1990 Mayfair that has a 1275 Metro engine in it which I was hoping to be able to get running again in situ but it's got too much wrong with it - if I've got to pull it out then I'm thinking I may as well get a new one and start from scratch!!
They vary a lot from different companies- I am weary about buying from names I don't know though. But for 100bhp in kit form prices start at around £1500 from MiniSport. MED/KAD's price is approx. £3500 fully built.
I am not sure if I would actually get my 100bhp from a £1500 kit which is why I am thinking that one of the more reputable builders is probably a better bet.

I would recomend Nick at Swiftune also.... dont know about SC but heard good reports elsewhere.... I had poor experience with MED and so wouldnt point you in that direction
Rob
Is this SC as in Sepciaised Components, not SC parts?
Swiftune 'are too busy' to do road engines. They said they would supply one in kit only.

Avonbar is still going under a new owner, heard good reports about them so far. AVR is the bloke who used to run avonbar? Not heard much off them atm.

what spec did you get?
Would you mind telling us how much it cost and do you have any idea of power/torque you are getting?
