I run LED side and stop lights in mine and you dond need a resisitor. If you are useing the old Mk3 rear lights without the reversw ligth lense you may have to modify the back plate to get them to fit, other that that they fit straight into the later style mini lights.

If you're feeling adventurous, you could always make some custom tail lights using a few of these....

them bulbs seem good and LEDs are ment to last ages to so i say a 10er well spent
