Just bolting the turbo block to box to today and by chance found there was loads of play in the small end of number two piston, i made the fatal error of using the old shells with the new pistons i bought and the rods out my other mg block, should have realised there might be a problem as the old assembly was knackered (rod cracked, piston melted). Is it possible to use the N/A small end shells? As these were brand new! Have stuck them up in the loft at the moment, so to save me dragging it all out, does anyone know?
Problem!!!!

when you say 'play' do you mean axial or radial??? There is always a little radial, but should be NO axial...

axial play, i know it should't be there, cant see how i missed it. it looks like there's a surface fracture on one of the shells. probably done when the rod went.
