Well Im 23 my mini was insured a year ago at £800.
This was with 0 NCB as its my second car all this aswell after having a head on collision in my main car (not my fault) and a month earlier being knocked off my Motorcycle again not my fault both premiums have reduced since then when renewed.
Funny thing is I have a High Performance motorcycle (owned 2 years and does 0 - 60 in 3.2seconds) a 56 plate Fiesta 1.4 Zetec and the 1275 mini. The motorcycle is the cheapest to insure and the mini the most expensive.
As for second drivers. It can be just as cheap to have you named as the main driver and your parents as a second driver. I believe that is legal (please point out if I am worng) as you will be doing most of the driving.
Some insurance companies also take no consideration for parents as main drivers (they know what you are up to). As a second driver with the parent as a main driver or insuring on your own the premiums can still be the same.
