hi
im going to uni and i dont want to take my massive CRT tv because it weighs 12 tonnes and ive got no room for it.

i know you can buy tv tuners that plug into laptops/computers with an aerial and varies adaptors. it also works on pc monitors to enable them to be tv, it give you freeview plus you can plug av stuff into like ps3 or dvd player.

so my question is, has anyone ever used one of these for a laptop or monitor.
i wont to know if they are any good or do they work?

here is one on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.co.u...#ht_4460wt_1137

any help would be appreciated.

thanks
elliot

Set one up for my sister last week for when she's at Uni. It's a similar concept to that and works quite well!

can i ask what she has plugged into it? does she use it just for a telly, or does she run other stuff off it aswell?
is she using laptop or a monitor?

i was gonna ask something else but cant remember what it was. ill edit it if i remember.

cheers

If you have internet access you could always try tvcatchup which is a free service and provides all major channels on the internet. Some are good quality some not so good.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

tvcatchup.com

FREE tv on your laptop. No downloads, no hidden costs, just sign up (FREE) just a short 20 second advert when you first start watching.

Swear by it.

Watch out if you're in Halls, the TV licence snoops know they are easy pickings & can usually get access even if you aren't there. You can watch telly over the interweb for free: if it's not being broadcast over the airwaves at the time - rules out legally watching TVCatchup without a licence.

Plugging an Xbox into a pc seems a convoluted way of doing things - The pc would have to redigitise the signal using it's own graphics processor. A flat panel tv/monitor would connect directly freeing up your pc, and could also provide extra screen area for computing.

yeah that tv cathup thing is pretty good. just a freeview box on the laptop. thanks

it still doesnt solve the problem of the ps3 so i might just have to buy one and take my computer screen as well as others have suggested.

thanks a lot guys
