Just had a look at whats on there at the moment and they are called NANKANG !! ... never heard of them!

http://www.nankangty...re30/cx-668.php

We had them on our MPi, never gave us any problems.

I can't help you with your decision though as I don't have first hand experience with any of the tyres you're trying to pick from.

I have and can confirm they wheel spin/slide in the wet, well in comparison to the Yoko A539's, which I personally don't think you'll find a better all round tyre for 12's.

i would say go for the yokos there are a very good tyre the falkens are also good as have used both in the passed on a 998cc mini both are good but the tokos seemed to be a bit better a good tyre good level of grip and good in wet too however they are good at wearing though espicially at the front but thats half to do with my drivng style and the amount of miles i do

Nothing wrong with nankang tyres...

My preference for value for money, longevity of service and grip levels as were coming upto winter would be the Falkens, with the Yoko A539 running a close second, what tips the balance in favour of the Falken is price and durability

Basic steel wheels are 145/60/12 aren't they!?
I have 12 " Mini lites on my car, 5X12. I have 4 x Yoko A539's on. 165/60/12! They are AWESOME tyres  I have never really skidded in them, I've heard that Falkens are quite good too. I had some cheap ish tyres on before, and the back end kept slipping out on roundabouts, where now, the yoko's really grab onto the road surface :-

Another vote for the Yoko A539's, I find they grip really well around the corners and stop nicely in the dry and wet.

Although I may be bias since I have never driven on any other type of tire

Theres a big difference between 55 and 60 profile tyres in 165 width it has the effect of altering the gearing quite alot, 70 profile on minis are for 145/12's only, the profile is a percentage of the width not the rolling radius thats why 145 are 70 profile 165 is 60 profile and the rolling radius is almost the same, if your car is a road car i would not bother with the 48's (unlike whats been suggested they dont make 32's in 12 inch rims) as they were far faster to wear being so soft, A539's have been around for a while and this is due to demand they are a good tyre you wont go wrong with them, falkens are slightly harder so wear will be better again a tyre you wont go wrong with.

A mate of mine used to swear by nankang tyres so drove his as i always used Yoko's or Falkens and i was impressed not bad for a budget ish tyre but then i was being quite good with the car as it wasnt mine and didnt want to bin my mates car.

I still think Yoko's are the best and would fork out the extra £10 for them all day and they do last quite well if you dont drive everywhere sideways.

Bite the bullet and get the yoko's you wont be disapointed.

nankangs are absolutly naff, dont try fooling yourself. Remember at the end of the day there the 1 thing keeping you in contact with the road, if there hard to read how they behave there not going to be as safe as a tyre a mear £10 more.
i recently had the pleasure of driving a car which was fitted with some nankangs, Dry weekend where there should usualy be plenty of usable grip it just spun up the wheels with a little tickle of the throttle... had it been raining it would have been silly and useless.
spend as much as you can afford on tyres

I too have also heard that nankangs aren't very good. I seem to remember they were ok in the dry, but next to useless in the wet. This was on fiestas though.

I'm going to be in the same boat, as I've just bought my mini, and driving it back today, I reckon it could do with a set of decent, new tyres. I'll probably get the yokos.

Nankang tyres are very bad. I have them on mine in winter, on my steel wheels and I can't get any grip in the wet. They are basically budget tyres.

in the dry they seem to be ok
i havnt changed tyres yet but i will do when its rixed from my bump

they handle ok so far still getting used to the better handling over the vauxhaull
in the wet though
they weelspin
ill be going for yoko's or falkens next
and going for 165 instead of 145 for that wider better handling tire >_<

I got some yoko A539s fitted to mine yesterday.

Not driven it much yet though, but it certainly felt better than the rubbish 10 year old tyres that were on it, >_<.

£257 fully fitted.

Wish it would stop raining.
