you can get the mote carlo windscreens but they're over £200 or just use some rainex anti-fog, standard mini heater and maybe crack the window to let water vapor out

I used to have one of those stick on universal fan heater jobbies (this sort of thing) that plugged into the cigarette lighter (I was lucky enough to have an aftermarket cigarette lighter in my mini though). It used to work really well at demisting & deicing the windscreen in the winter and meant that my windscreen was clear in a couple of minutes and without having to wait the 20 mins for the engine to warm up & get the car heater & demisters working.

Only problem was that you really needed to take it off the dash once the windscreen was clear ,as it got in the way and was a bit of an eyesore. Mine was a stick on type so that wasn't an option, but if you could get a clip on version that could be clipped onto the ash tray or something, then that could work!!!

Yeah you can get the monte carlo windscreen which has two silver stripes that you can see quite easily or minispares do this type: http://minispares.co...ty=pb&pid=38838 which is slightly slower but doesn't leave the strips in your line of sight.

Thanks for sharing Avv it, this looks a handy gadget and a good way to deal with winter windscreens

Yeah that's the type of thing, but it shares the same problem as the one I had though, in how it's mounted. You really don't want it to be a permanent fixture on your dash, (especially in a mini as the windscreen is small enough as it is!!) You also don't want it falling off your dash every time you go around a corner either. That's why I reckon you should try and find a "clip on" type version (if there is such a thing) that you can take on and off as you wish!

minimininut thats not the one i was thinking of ,just checked kampers site and they dont sell it anymore. they used to be a alot smaller, slimmer version and im sure it had little suction cups on it to stick to screen and you could adjust the vent so it would blow over most of the screen. will ask acouple of mates they have splitties and gay windows

Has anyone tried to build one into a mini heater so that it's hidden and uses the standard ducting?

At least it's not like our Fabia. When it rains the windscreen steams up no matter what I do. Heater, air con, re-circulate. I've pressed every button on the Dash. I've even read the manual, so it must be annoying me... It's not fun driving along the motorway at night in the rain after a day out in blackpool to see the lights, periodically wiping the windscreen with a disintegrating tissue! I think I'll try the rainex anti fog on that.

Dan.

Why does everything need to be overcomplicated?

NASA spent millions to develop a pen that would write in space, whereas the USSR took a pencil... I don't know if that's true, but I did once have a NASA pen, it wasn't too great on earth, never did try it in space...
