How silly

http://www.youtube.c...feature=related

What the hell is going on. Why would anybody make their car do that.. Ive watched The films "fast and furious" And those cars did this kind of thing becouse they were basicaly race engines for the road. Just becouse you can make your mini do this does NOT turn you into a film star. STOP IT PEOPLE.

Some of the Mini videos make me cringe. People sitting on the drive bouncing off the rev limiter...o dear.

Couldn't of put it better myself, its silly and cannot be good for the engine.

If anyone here wants to create a backfire, one might suggest that they are oin the wrong forum. A children's forum might suit them better. They certainly shouldn't be allowed to drive the cars we all love and cherish. 'nuff said!

Heres miniturbopetes flames.

In my opinion I do think its a cool. I believe he uses the rev it and flick the ignition off method and in the past he's commented one how it does no damage to the engine.

Thats matt woods car. One of the most tuned a-series engines out there, creating silly power that is set up perfectly otherwise it would lunch itself.
It still pops and bangs,

BSiIFxgJT_A

Im not going to read the whole thread, but someone mentioned rally cars pop and bang so it must be fine, thats usualy because of anti-lag.

Some engines pop and bang and some don't, its how they are set up and tuned. My 998 used to pop and bang on the way home from its rolling road tune.

My mates Focus St used to pop when changing gear hard. It's not necessarily the sign of a poorly tuned engine.

My 1380 would occasionaly due it when hot.

However I think someone mentioned the turning the key trick of letting it run down and then turning the ignition back on.

Thats very bad for an engine as the fuel isnt burnt and washes the oil off the bores which can damage them.

I quite like it, gives the car a bit more character.

Mine still lets out the occasional pop even after a session on the rolling road. I love the burble from overrun but I wouldnt try to go as far as cause flames to spit! Each to their own though. Its the OPs car and he can do with it as he pleases in my mind. Regardless of peoples opinions on it he was asking for advice which is surely what this forum is about?

with my single box exhaust i used to get it popping quite a lot going down a hill, also used to spit out the odd flame when changing down when giving it the beans. it was set up properly and was within mot emissions. my friend used to do the ignition off and on trick a lot in his golf, used to scare the life out of people going through town lol. i'm not pround of this mind, it was partly down to my dizzy losing its timing.

Q: How do you make a Mini back fire?
A: Cut it in half, disregard front end, fill back with wood and set alight.

This thread is pointless (other than to prove some people's ignorance) and quite upsetting.

My mini popped once a long time ago, I sorted it out...

Big exhausts on mini's are reversly corralated to big penis' on men, and generally exiting from the forehead.

You kids need to read decent books on exhaust back pressure and tuning a mini, not Max Power magazine and just think big/loud is best... and respect the tried and tested knowledge and experience of the elders on this forum (and in life).

I guess we can give advice, but some peope will never listen, don't give up on giving advice, just give up on some people...

'Big exhausts on mini's are reversly corralated to big penis' on men, and generally exiting from the forehead.'

Just because a person wants their car to sound sporty and loud does not mean they are what you say they are. I would say that more than half the people on this forum have a mini with a larger than standard exhaust fitted, people that have a huge passion and love for minis and you have the cheek to call them that!!

regardless of your age and wisdom mate, your post was insulting and condescending to me and most likely every other person with a 'big exhaust' ( on there car  )

regarding the topic, listen to what people with the knowlegde have said on here, but ultimately it is your car and your choice!

I think this might have got a little outta hand.......:S

But i digress

I don't think so far to date I've ever had a mini that did NOT backfire a little bit, even when the timing and mixture was set up properly, probably because I've never had a injection, never had a cat, and probably had a hole in the exhaust or had an uprated exhaust system.
The fact of the matter is that to make it backfire, you have to have all the elements of backfiring, and be safe in the knowledge that if ou have the money to burn into a flame at the back of your car its your choice.

I myself find it quite entertaining. 75 car alarms and counting.......:D
