Just put in in the car. If its in the tank on the car then just drain the float bowl in the carb. This is because the stuff in the talk wont go off as much as the float bowl because theres more of it.
Drain the float bowl. Mix the old furl 50:50 with new fuel then no problems at all.
What you have to remember is the Minis were designed for much worse fuel and oils than we have today so there is no need to worry.
And you dont waste any fuel this way

I second this, just mix it gradually with new fuel. Or Lawn mower?

i had 12 month old petrol in my mini, it would not start so drained it out the tank and carb, put new fuel in and it started straight away, fuel does go flat when left.

I've just today been up to New Bradwell tip and asked about the very same thing as I had about 10 litres of it out of a project I bought & broke last year (it had been standing for at least 3 years before that as well so I had no intention of using it in my daily!). The person I spoke to there said to just pour it in with the waste oil, so that is where it is now! Still got to drain the tank on the clubby but now I have the cans empty again I can do it,

This came out of my mini after it stood for about 6 years!

I put it in the waste oil container at the tip!

Here in sunny Hampshire the household recycling oil container is normally locked and you have to get it unlocked by the jobsworth. The idea is to stop people from putting petrol in with the oil.

Probably so the jobsworth can take it home and run his lawnmower on it...

I can confirm that petrol does go off. In 1983 I took my Triumph Spitfire off the road and it had a fair amount of fuel in the tank. 20 years later I restored the car and thought that the tank level had gone down somewhat. Anyway, car was duly started and tested for quite a while on a number of occasions, but then left for a week or so.

When I tried to start it again, the starter practically stopped turning, then there was a clunk after which the car started, but running on about 2.5 cylinders. What had happened was that sticky gunge in the petrol had gone very hard round the valve stems and made one stick in its guide. The clunk was a pushrod being bent and parting company with its rocker.

Mix it with fresh stuff and your on your way, I run petrol that has had about 1 part dieasl mixed in with it from the siphening tank we have at work for when people fill there diesals up with petrol. But if i dilute it down like five leaters every time i put £15 in it runs ok well it seams to run fine on it un diluted but quite smoky its ok when i add some freash stuff.

Altho wouldent recomend doing it to often.

Hiya

I tried calling New Bradwell recylcling centre and there was no answer today. Anyway, I think I will do that. Actually, I checked my jerry can and there is only about 10 litres. I will mix it with the oil and dum it. Petrol its made from oil anyway!

Also, the oil in the engine has been there for over two years, and so I will drain that and replace with fresh stuff before the engine is started again.

The engine still uses 4 star petrol, and I will be passing Buckingham soon (there is a garage there that sells 4-star) and will fill up when my jerry can is empty of all the crap petrol.
