I've been trying to think of a way to do this but i haven't got a clue so was wondering if any of you have done this.

I've got MPI seats in my mini, moved back as far as possible but my ankles don't like it :o . So i'll fit some of those extender brackets but then i'll have to tilt the seat-back forwards to avoid rubbing on the rear bin. This will result in my head rubbing on the headlining so I don't want to til the seat forward really.

So I was wondering if there is a way of making the seat sit lower to the floor? So then I can fit the extender brackets and then tilt the seat-back forward to avoid the bins, and my head will then not rub on the headlining :)

Is there a way of doing this?

5ft 11 i think :)

Could i put some sort of spacers on the seat brackets and move the seat to the left a smidge just to avoid the bin? Might have a go at that actually and see what happens

im suprised you need the brackets, i ran standard seats with no problems, and now running corbeau clubman buckets on standard brackets, and im 6ft

but yeah try that, maybe put them the other side of of the bracket with a longer bolt so it still fits through the bracket all the way

I'm 6ft'1 and have no problem when the seat is fully back. (I have longer legs and shorter body) :)

I'm about 6ft (long body short legs) and have never had a problem, i think it depends on your driving style as i know that i don't mind having my knees under the steering wheel others prefer their legs as straight as possible etc

My legs go either side of the steering wheel, and it's very comfy :)

Ahh yeah think it's all down to taste isn't it. The back of my knees absolutely kill when i'm driving it as it is at the moment, same with my ankles :) Never thought my legs were particularly long but they must be! :o

I had buckets mounted on the floor behind the crossmember, and on a long drive my ankles still killed. I did see somewhere... but don't ask me where i don't remember, a set of seat adapters that mounted over the crossmember and gave you the same seat attachments as standard, but behind the member. I guess those would work for you. If i find em, i'll post back, but a google wouldn't kill ya :)

i'v got the extension brackets and the seats out of my 93 cooper in the mayfair and they foul the bins, got a hole in the drivers seat where it rubs :)
if spacers were to be put in that bring the seat closer to the middle of the car would they be a bit of a danger in an accident or is the seat the last thing i need to be thinkin about if i'm in a accident?!??

I'm 6ft 3, and I get on fine with just the extension brackets. I've got SPi half leather seats in mine, and even tilted quite forward my head's not near the headlining.

Well I'm not comfy driving him as the seat is now so I've got to do something. I don't know why my head hits the headlining though :D|

look on here,
http://www.m-machine...ew_Products.htm

they make a ting called a reverse seat mounting bracket, just weld it in and you can have your seat mounting on the other side of the crossmember,
and since you put it in, you can have it as far left as you like!

the mpi seats are bigger than the earlly seats, so they wont move back for the bins.
what i did with mine is i modified the seat. i cut about 1.5 inch out of the legs to lower the seat, and i welded the
the leg on the inside on an angle, so the back of the seat can move closer to the tunnel.
then i made some brackets to move the seat back.

Cheers mate! After looking over the seat today I'm not sure if i can move it left because of the lever catch thing under the seat that hooks under the black rail near the tunnel >_<

What seats do you have in yours?
Sounds like a good setup though, does it work well?

I fitted those extender brackets today and it was no good, had to tilt seat forward to avoid bins and my head was hitting the headlining.

Gonna see how it goes with the more i drive it, but may have to modify the seat if it gets too uncomfy :/

Thanks for all your help :)
