Thank you

well I have eventually come back into the fold....its been a while

base car 1971 clubby estate, 23,000 miles, had some paint and welding, but overall a very solid car.

At the moment it is still a daily drive, so the project will be adapted to keep me up and running (most of the time)...but I can bike to work, so major jobs are not a hurdle.

Ok so far....

the owner before me put on a saloon exhaust, so all fumes came running into rear and resonated off back off bodywork...so as a temp fix there is a halfords extended chrome tailpipe (facing down) on it ...the new exhaust will not fit on existing engine, so no point in replacing it yet.

static seatbelts in front replaced with inertia ones

Rear seat belts on the way.....

float bowl overflowing all time, so lid, float, needle and pipe all replaced

brake lights not working so switched replaced...which of course led to air in brake lines, so bled out and all working again

petrol sender shafted....part ordered

water temp sender shafted...part ordered

fanbelt was 39 years old...so its been replaced

water in system probably 39 years old...all flushed out

new spark plugs

new air filter

new oil filter

new oil

windscreen washer pump.....thats a loose term!!!, blocked, but all cleaned out and working

new wipers and arms....that dont touch the screen at several points.. tweaking with a hammer shpuld fix that

at the mo, its assesing the overall state and getting it running right before........well keep watching

big parts ordered ... will be arriving this week

Wow that is exactly what I want if I ever buy a bog standard Clubby Estate, I think the interior and moldings down the side just make it look so cool. :(

That's a nice Mini. It was one like that which got me into Clubman Estates.

Don't forget to join the Clubman Estate Register.

thanks for comments....

due to a stunt...oh hum, the suspension has had its day....and realizing that the new sporty set up would be struggling when trying to work with 40 year old cones....i decided to replace them as well. Ordered for 24 hour delivery, ready for the weekend of living under the car.

First job in morning is to replace the petrol sender

then if i am still not on fire, the suspension...

ok next installment ... not quite going to plan and nowhere near where i should be time wise

If i have to heat up/ cut anymore bolts off i'm going to revert to eating my body weight in midget gems

Got tank out and new sender in ...all back together and sender doesnt work and the stripped threads in tank for feed pipe leaking...ho hum, so tank back out again.... second attempt tomorrow

Someone has had a go at the front doughnuts and stripped the thread (one side for defo, didnt have the heart or inclination to try the other side) so cant get compressor to work/ latch..... need to strip down another day (depends when i can get my midget gems) and cut the cone and doughnut out.

Had to leave rear camber plates and bottom arms (and obviously front hi los and doughnuts) for now

DONE.....

rear and front shocks
tie rods
rear hi los
tank in and out several times
thrown compressor tool at garage door
eaten lots of sweets

as you can see from photos, there were some parts that were in desperate need of replacing
