Hey, I haven't had any lessons or anything yet, but lets just say I just passed today for this threads sake
If I buy a 1275cc mini can somebody give me a rough estimate on an insurance quote? I can only get quotes on normal insurers, but I've heard about Footman James/Adrian Flux etc, and 17 year olds are getting quotes under £1k
So 1275 mini, being 17 and just passed my test, what should I be looking at paying?
Well I phoned up today and as said above, got quoted around the £1800 mark by most companies for an 998. I live in the cheapest area to insure too. The cheapest I got was about 1680. This was on fully comp by the way. Third party fire and theft was more expensive. It's confusing why it works like this but I'll try and explain it if you want me too

For a 1275 you'd be looking at around £2100 I reckon.
As for 17 year olds getting quotes under £1k, that's usually before you've passed. If anyone (particularly male) is telling you they got insured for under 1k after they've passed with a true value of the car provided plus any mods they're lying.
As a 17 year old you'd be better of getting a 850 or 998.
Insurance prices at the moment have rocketed for young drivers and are constantly going up

EDIT: It's also just as cheap now to have your own policy rather than go on your parents or have parents as a named driver. At this age classic car insures tend to be the same price, and a lot of them won't look at you unless you're 21
