Guy was probably doing less than 15 mph in his clio and only seems to have
Dinged the boot lid in 2 places. His grill bumper etc was already
Smashed from when hes rear ended others im like wouldnt it
Be an idea to keep eyes on road more, didnt see if he was on phone either.
My rear bumper was already pushed in a bit by previous owner
And looks same as i only took it off last weekend.

Whats going rate for 93' boot lid? New or used.
Will post up pics tommorow.

Have you got his insurance details? I'd be tempted to get it fully inspected to make sure there's no hidden damage!

Ive got address and phone number etc and the insurance database
Says the car is insured. Not sure if i want the hassle myself
But will give it a good look over on weds when im off.
I know how rear end was as i only removed rear bumper on
Weekend just gone, and boot opens and closes normally.

No hassle for you. Ring his insurance company and tell them you want the car inspected at your house unless they are prepared to give you a courtesy car!

It could be a lot worse then, rear panel, rear valence, boot floor, subframe etc could all be badly damaged from a slow rear ending incident, it seems you were lucky but defintely get it inspected by an expert, you never know whats hidden underneath, a lot of energy is transfered when a heavy moving objects hits a heavy still object...

If it's just a boot lid and bumper you need, ring the guy and tell him you want the money for them or you will claim :P
Or you could do it the modern way and claim for the whiplash you got and put up everyone's insurance :D

I know what your saying guys. I know just by looking at it no one be 100% sure something is slightly out of place really but overall and from close up with it on weekend just gone im sure the boot lid has taken the brunt of it.

Im not one for claiming just cause I can etc had similar on Ducati motorbike there was a chip in rim paint when i bought it new, i came off it and claimed and guy put on a new wheel £600+ which i thought was madness.

Getting my garage mate to have a look at it tonight to and do plan on asking for money if he really doesnt want to claim. I am still going to ask for full insurance details as well in case.

Oh no! Sorry to hear about this Bunch1980 :D . I hear of so many rear enders, I just wish that people would learn to leave a bit more space.

I hope the damage is limited to just the boot lid and that you get it sorted out quickly and with the least possible hassle.

Like others have said get it inspected to make sure that he damage is actually only limited to the boot lid itself. If this is an insurance claim then don't even think about a repair using a used boot lid. Get his insurer to pay for a genuine brand new replacement item, I reckon your looking at about £200 for the boot lid Clicky plus at least £150 + VAT to get it professionally colour matched to your car.

Thanks i was just about to see how much a new one was!
If I say had it looked at a proper garage they would only look by eye wouldnt they? and if its his insurers doubt it be a mini specialist either and not many near me either that i know of.
I was planning on asking for about £300 as he said his insurance is sky high because of number of claims and expect his excess is more than this to.

I would have that looked at, as many have said. Also, that would probably be cheaper to fix at a garage, than replace by yourself. Although your boot looks to be in 'as new' condition (besides the dent), insurers will not replace something that is not in new condition with something brand new, eg if somebody crashed into the front of a rusty Mini, it would have to be replaced with a rusty front end, so I'm pretty sure if it went through insurance they'll find any little worm hole they can to avoid paying up.

Sorry to hear about this though, both me and my girlfriend have had our Minis in body shops repairing rear damage :D
