I don't suppose anyone has some figures for the frontal area, the coefficient of drag and the rolling resistance for a mini(along with the tyre size of that figure)?

I need some data for the physics engine I'm building for my final year project.
And this data seems very hard to come by, short of going to a wind tunnel.

Wasn't there an article in either Mini Magazine or Mini World about a few months ago?

I had a book which had some of this data in, but its stored in my geek library back at my parents house.

That's excellent.

I'm only just starting, I've not done any class design yet either, only really done requirements analysis, I really need to get going on it, :).

For that area, is that square meters?

Miniworld did a wind tunnel article with Neil Masters' Mini in 2009 I believe, and I think David Vizard talks about it too somewhere in one of his books, because i remember him stating something about deseaming his Mini and not getting much extra time from it.

Yes that is right.

Bizzare that everyone fits a clubby flip front!!!

Better cooling though.

Frontal area is obviously the same & screen rake (front & rear) is probably the biggest factor. The worst thing about the Clubby is the amount of air it directs underneath. Aren't the seams about 40 sq inches?

Stainforth book gives:

Frontal area 20.4 sq ft (19.7 if lowered 2 inches).

CD varies from 0.485 (Mini850) to 0.53 (Cooper997) - the figures are calculated from bhp and top speeds.

Is that when the front valence was scoped to direct airflow to the front brakes ?

No idea, it seems a big difference if it is. I suspect it's down to over ambitious performance claims since the figures are all calculated and not measured.

1071S claims 0.51 with 93 mph and 57.4 bhp at the wheels, credible figures from the middle of the range.
