Model: 1993 Sprite

The silencer on my side exit RC40 is blowing and I fancy the idea of a centre exit version as a replacement. I have currently the later type exhaust and rear subframe with the mounting prongs and rubber hangers. If I swap to a centre exit bolt on item, how does it attach to the car and what mods will I need to do to the subframe if any, in order to get it to fit?

youll need to drill two holes in the rear of the rear subframe for the two rubbers, youll see what i mean when you hold the exhaust up to it

Exactly what Samsfern says AVV IT, 2 nice neat holes in the subframe and the rubber reels bolted staright to the subframe. Shame it doesnt say this in the instructions you dont get with the kits!!!!!!

Don't forget the 'choc-block' mounting in the centre at the front of the rear sub-frame. You do need this as well.

That photo shows the excellent quality of the Maniflow exhaust.

Thanks for the pics guys, but aren't these both maniflow systems?? Would an RC40 bolt to the vertical face of the subframe beam in the same way or does it bolt through the horizontal face beneath instead?

My RC40 rear box is mounted exactly like that maniflow, but I had to make up suitable bracket at front & rear of the box.

Mine bolts through the bottom face of the subframe with some little cotton real mountings. The front of the back box is held by a hanger clamped to the exhaust and bolted to the original rubber mounting block that was used for my side exit exhaust.

I've no idea as I always make up my own mounting brackets using various parts from my local tyre & exhaust centre, plus some clamps, a sheet of 3 mm steel plate and other parts which then looks like the mounting in the photo. I don't weld the vertical flat plate to the exhaust pipe, although you easily could. Also, my complete exshaust pipe, from the Y-piece to the final pipe is all solidly welded together to make one complete exhaust pipe.

All you need to do it is the RC40 fitting kit from minispares. Its around a tenner and comes with all the right size clamps and brackets.

thats what i done for my exhaust, welded it together, as it kept wobbling apart and blowing where the link pipe goes on the y piece, i even fabricated my own bracket as well, (i lost the one that came with the exhaust) :)
