Hello all,

As per title. How do i go about this? night school at college? how long does it take? I passed everything else pretty well and 'excelled' in English, so surely this shows a willingness to learn?

Thanks ^_^

I wouldn't mind doing this too but for English, maths was the only thing I got a decent grade for ^_^

Depends how you want to do it. If you want to take actual lessons as such, then approach your local further education college and ask about a part time course (i.e. evening classes). If you think you are self motivated and disciplined enough then you could go for an a distance learning course instead. Many of these are now online/e-learning based and involve little or no actual face to face contact with the affiliated college other than for exams, which works for some people but isn't for others, it can make the course fees a bit lower though!

Suggest that she speaks to someone at her local job centre/ employment service, as I'm pretty sure that you are entitled to free or at least significantly subsidised further education courses if you have been unemployed for a certain amount of time. You certainly used to be entitled to that sort of thing any way!!

Thanks everybody. I'l get in touch with my local college and see what they say

I'm currently working in retail at the same place as Cooperdan from the forum, actually... he pretty much got me the job! ^_^ I know it won't last forever, but enjoy what I do at the moment. I need to get my life on track and start thinking outside of the box and I think getting some decent grades might help.

Still young at the moment. :) I know that going back to school would be the best idea, but I promised myself I'd never go back to that place when I left, and I'm sticking with that. I didn't have an easy time at school, I hated every minute, I just wish I'd listened to everybody when they said I should have gotten the grades whilst the opportunitys were there, since they have gone now, and its come back and hit me in the face. What can i say? Everybody makes mistakes, just learn from them. Character building.

I think I'l get in touch with my college :P

Yeah I do love my animals David. I would love to become an RSPCA Inspector one day, but jobs in that line are scarce. I've been working for the RSPCA for years now, and I've never been even close to that role.

I think we all know about my love for motorsport, that's a dream I'd love to reach one day, though.

Plenty of options are there though, really. I play fiddle, mandolin and guitar aswell as having studio experience so perhaps a career in music is something to consider, too. We'll see.

if you really love your motorsport i dont know what sort of role you want to work within the industry but why dont you go to a college that specialises in motorsport engineering or something like that you said yourself your still young so grab every opertunity whilst you can i am still young but not quite young enough to get college for free anymore unfortunitely else i would still be there trainig toward electrical engineering but im going to have to do it the hard way of finding a job and doing it that way fortunitely i have a job to keep me going until i can find something.

Not fussed, not sure. I just need a maths qualification equal to GCSE.
