hi folks, I am planning a small block vauxhall conversion or rover k series in an allspeed frame for next summer but what I'd love to know is how do these minis feel on the road? What I mean is that my current 70 odd bhp mpi 'feels' great - exciting, nippy , everything a modern car is not! I just hope that giving a mini a modern engine wont also give it that modern boring feel if you know what I mean. Are these 100bhp 16v minis as exciting as the equivalent powered a series?

Having driven Allspeeds then Demonstrator with a 100hp Vaux engine I'd say you get the best of both worlds, all the fun of the Mini but with a much nicer modern engine and 5-speed box.

The only modern feel your gonna get with a modern engine is a modern start up in the morning and modern reliability day after day

Chucking this in a mini makes no difference, the mini will still feel like a mini driving down the road......it'll just get you there a helluva lot more quicker than before :D

thanks for the replies folks, yeah thats good news. Now i have the next few months to decide on rover or vauxhall. Its a shame allspeed dont ffer a complete kit for the k series conversion. I like the idea of a lighter engine! anyway cheers.

the k series conversions almost a straight swap, you just make up the brackets to join it to the origional subby mounts, and then a plate to mount it to the side of the bulkhead.

the subby might only cost you 60 quid :)

(16v mini forums have all the info)

Your post is very misleading, fitting a K-series to a Mini is no where near as simple as that

ok... theres alot more to it than chucking some plate on... but its noware near as dramatic as making your own... or paying for one.

iv never done an engine conversion before i started mine. and although i have fabbed steel containment (im an industrial sparkie) for the last 5 years... iv not exactly found it to be rocket sciance.

Just realised you're talking about fitting a Metro/Rover 100 frame to a Mini
