Some how use the time stamp the receipt (if you kept it) to show that you at least left the parking space.

I would put it on Mcdonalds to prove you where there the whole time, they must have cctv!

Maybe even a polite phone call could fix it for you!

Also I believe you can request any footage from cctv cameras under the freedom of information act. So if you know for sure your car was caught on cctv elsewhere during the said 2.15 hours then you can, put in a written request for the tape.

If this is true, I should have been seen on hundreds of cameras driving straight through the centre of the city.

it is actually the data protection act

"Individuals whose images are recorded have a right to view the images of themselves and,
unless they agree otherwise, to be provided with a copy of the images. This must be provided
within 40 calendar days of receiving a request. You may charge a fee of up to £10 (this is the
current statutory maximum set by Parliament). Those who request access must provide you
with details which allow you to identify them as the subject of the images and also to locate the
images on your system."

http://www.ico.gov.u...vfinal_2301.pdf - page 15!

Not sure if it is applicable to vehicles but worth a try!

Thats weird then, because there was a case at work where some ones purse was taken from a bag in which they had put down and wondered off. This person, along with her partner and a friend were fumming as the management wouldnt let them see the cctv of the shop as apparently it was because of data protection? Are my work place allowed to hold the images?

Cheers

Nick

of topic but - i guess you can only request the footage if your are in it!

Thanks for the links and information. I've spoken to a few people who have paid the fines and attempted to retrieve the money later.
All to no success. They are not getting my money !!!

Im a student and that £50 makes a huge difference!!!!!!

I was given a number for bristol CCTV but the number did not work, so will try to get another one.

Still waiting on a reply from the casino.

I will contact CAB tomorrow and see what they say, the problem is I have very limited time before the fine goes up to £100, because the letter had to be forwarded on from my parents house where my car is registered. I realy don't need this when trying to put together my dissertation proposal aswell!!

Good luck mate! Maybe a call or a letter to the parking firm explaining you are awaiting the evidence would help, maybe ask for a grace period.

Oh and be sure to invoice them for the costs of retrieving the cctv footage!

I have e-mailed explaining im not paying the charge. Explained the circumstances and asked to see footage of me staying for the time they have stated.

I had a search around on google, and so many people have not paid the charge and not heard anything more after a few months.
There is also quite a lot of bad press about this company, I think they've been on watchdog. Apparently they use fake solicitor letters etc

when i were at college we use to get parking fines on our windscreens once or twice a week, for not displaying a permit, i argued this out with them and won, there were no signs stating permits must be displayed.

you should send them a letter telling them to come and collect the fine themselves then inviting tmf around at the same time

samfern- a mate got clamped at college aswell, although they kept banging on about permits thee were no signs up or anything. He drives a slammed bora (yes i no we cant all have it the way we want ;)) but its a well known car, and he'd recently finished spraying his wheels. Anyway they clamped him and scuffed his wheels then they made him go into this room with the head master, and a few teachers who promtly closed the blinds and began intimidating him :L even got to the extent where one teacher lied to him infrornt of the other teachers :withstupid: He got a way for free tho.

Sorry about my little story, carry on ;)

if it's a private car park it's not a fine it's a invoice to the registered keeper of the car

it's up to them to prove it was you the registered keeper of the car there that day

there is a big topic about this on the money saving expert website and how they can't make you pay

Ignore them until you get a court sumons and counter sue for harassment ?

 Its a hard one.I have heard of MuckDs doing it often to drivers.£50 is a lot when you have done nothing wrong and as you said you have to watch your budget.Shame you did not win at the casino.I like a small flutter to.If you pay it they can say you have addmited guilt. If you go to court its a day out.Its up to you mate.Think i would pay it and never shop in one again.Good Luck.

I agree with you man. Who's crazy enough to pay for only 5 minutes. I'll just see them in the court.

If the parking ticket is from a private firm and not the local council it is an invoice and not a fine and therefore you do not have to pay it.

I had a similar situation to this on the way to Southern Mini Days this year when a lorry crash on the Dartford crossing bridge caused the traffic to back up and I found myself stuck for nearly 3 hours in Lakeside Services which has a 2 hour restriction on parking. I received a letter demanding I pay a fine which really annoyed me so I sent a letter back asking them to prove that I was parked for two hours and explained about the traffic jam and that I expected them to cancel their "fine" and send me a letter confirmation. A week later I got a letter saying as a gesture of good will they were letting me off this time.

I did a few hours research and there is loads of info on the web about these private parking firms and how they use scare tactics into trying to make you pay but they will never take you to court as their "fine" is not enforceable.
