Who Can Ride a Road Legal Quad Bike?

As a road legal quad bike is classified as a Private Light Goods vehicle, it can only be ridden by someone who has passed their car driving test and holds a full driving licence and is at least 17 years old. There is an exception to this which is for anyone receiving the higher level of mobility component of the Disability Living Allowance. In this case, the minimum age is 16 years.

If he wanted a 125 motorbike , he could do a CBT (about £115) and then off he goes , obviously you would have to buy a motorbike provisional but its no worries.

Motorbike provisional is the same as car provisional isn't it?

The provisional is the same but for a bike it needs to be validated by a CBT test, £125!!! Im only 19 and it only cost me £80 to do mine 3 years ago!
Problem i see with quads is that you get all the disadvantages of the car AND bike ie. you cant scoot past traffic or easily overtake but you also get soaked in the rain and freeze to death every time you get on it. (although they are great fun).
If he is 19 and wants to keep his costs of fuel and insurance down, get the car licence and get a quadzilla buggy, same disadvantages of a quad but at least there is a roll bar and seat belts! (and you can carry a passenger)
