Mines a mixture of yellow and green? Is that any extra bhp

let me put it this way
yellow and green a series vs a red cardboard cutout of an engine.

the cardboard would win everytime.
why i hear you ask?

Spoiler

Through years of vigorous in depth testing it was actually proven as fact that red engine blocks are faster and by painting it red you can add up to 25BHP! Forget stage one kits just paint everything red.

The above statement is Fact.

Yes it certainly is & with well documented evidence to prove it too, I know this for certain as a "bloke in the pub" told me!! :w00t:

yeah he's a man of facts and truth. like how he told me the world was flat. he then kindly traded me my flat screen tv for some magic beans.
top notch guy :(

I have just had a quick glance at the bible, and can state, without fear of contradiction, that red engines are more powerful. I do think that Mr Vizzard should have mentioned this in the text, he mentions needles enough...

I can also confirm that red adds horsepower, I only gained about 10bhp b'cus only my head was red. If you paint your disks and pads red you will stop quicker

Im pretty sure orangey brown/rust is the weight saving paint and means your engine only weighs 10 kilos. Not to mention the horsepower benefits from such a low weight engine.... :w00t:

"I have just had a quick glance at the bible, and can state, without fear of contradiction, that red engines are more powerful. I do think that Mr Vizzard should have mentioned this in the text, he mentions needles enough..."

yeah its in the old testament somewhere if i remember correctly, yep ive found it " and so jesus did paint the engine of the mini red, and God had seen that his power had finally been matched if not overuled. so from the heavens did he bless upon that sacred red engine the power of speed."
i think its at the bottom in really small writing on the last page. :ohno:

"I can also confirm that red adds horsepower, I only gained about 10bhp b'cus only my head was red. If you paint your disks and pads red you will stop quicker O_O

If I remember correctly, the 998 A+ blocks were yellow, the 1275 A+ blocks (pre injection) were red and the injection blocks were black.

I stand to be corrected though.

Only MPI blocks where black, SPI are red....

Gold seal engine would have worth it at the time ie pre 82 (I think 82 was the last year of gold seal engines) however it would be a lot long in the tooth and possibly quite knackered, to the point of being useless.

Gold seal engines more often than not had a re-engineered crank, this meant that they cut the journals back and metal sprayed them up to standard, this effectively weeakened the crankshaft whilst also making it pretty useless for reconning later O_O

You may see that the journals on one of these cranks have a cloudy look about them as you break through the sprayed on material, I have one that a certain Mini engine specialist reground and then fitted to a 1380 high performance engine..... quack quack whoops :ohno:
