Just bought a 1992 Rover Mini Mayfair in Great Shape. How do i find out what engine i have in it? looked for a something to try and decifer the vin number but it was for new mini's. Any help would greatly be appriciated.

lo and weldome... if the engine number ( on the flat bit by the alternator ) is no longer preset there are a few ways to tell, the simplest being if it has teppet covers on the bacl, if so 998, if not then 1275... ( I think it will be a 998 though )
