Too expensive :)

As I have already said, running mains out from the house isn't something I want to do just yet. I've only been in the house a week, don't think the neighbours would be too happy if I go digging the driveway (which is shared owned by the owners of our row of seven houses, only two of which I've met) up just yet... lol

Thanks for the help guys, some useful info... Not as straight forward as I thought

If I understand the vehicle lighting regulations governing the reversing light Here then there is no restriction to the wattage on the bulbs, might just try brighter bulbs to make her parking easier...

Maybe fitting a timed delay relay to the interior light would help too

you dont need to dig up any thing
why dont you just get the longest extention lead you can and run it from the house to the garage?

The extension lead idea is a bit of a pain guys, hence why he doesnt want to go down that route im guessing , if you had to go into the house, unreel an extension lead, plug the light in, reverse the car/drive the car out of the garage, unplug the light, reel up the lead and go inside/drive away. it'd get a bit annoying after a while imo.

why take it back up?
get a weather proof cable secure it down and out of the way plug it in at the house and have a socket on the other end job done

if you can give us a picture/diagram of what we're lookin at we might be able to help hide a cable run or "something" to that effect...

I really appreciate all the help guys but as I said in my original post, I want something that is contained within the garage. I plan to bury a mains cable in the future and I don't fancy an extension cord because almost every house down here has young children and I don't want to create any trip/shock hazards.

Again I appreciate the help but am looking for reasonably priced (less than £70 odd) neighbour friendly alternatives to mains electricity. :)

Ta!

i think my worklamps were a good idea, stick them on charge overnight on the odd occasion, can be used for working on the mini too, and should give out plenty of light :)
