Hi Guys,

I am looking to paint my dash rails from grey to black with the Halfrauds flexible vinyl paint. Clicky Here if not sure what i mean.

Basically all i want to know is are the dash rail coverings made from leather, PVC, UPVC, or vinyl? I just want to make sure it isn't leather as it says not use it with leather.

Sorry if it is a really nooby question :D

Cheers

Conrad

The dash rails are vinyl, so that paint will be fine.
If you can find the paint then well done, ive searched for ages at stores by me, i gave up and bought black dash rails in the end.

They’re a plastic vinyl, Just make sure they are spotlessly clean with no silicone residue left from any sort of cleaners or polish before you spray.

I’ve even painted one in normally Halfords rattle cans, but done in very fine mist coats and giving it a slight key with some fine wire wool helps.

It's hyperlinked in my first post :D and thanks too!

Brilliant! All good news then.

Anyone got tips on how to remove the dash rails?

Thanks

Yep exactly the same here! Just ordered an all black dash from Custom Consoles. Gradually going to change all of the interior from grey to black.
Just need to know how to get them off now :D

Be careful removing the top rail. Ideally you should remove the windscreen. I sheered all 3 bolts when removing mine, which meant I didn't need to, but it meant the dash rai is now useless. I'm not using it, but it would have been nice to sell it!

The bottom one involes removing the switch panel in the centre.

I used Halfords flexy vinyl paint to do mine. One can was about enough for both the dash rails and it looks fine now, if a little shiny. It was too much of a pain to get the dash rails out, so we did it in the car surrounding by lots of masking paper :D.

theres a little trick i use to get the top dash rail out without removing the windscreen, first remove all the nuts, then usuing mole grips, bend the centre stud backwards (towards the front of the car).
Pull the front upwards and then pull the back up and forwards to take it out, then bend it back when youve got it back in.
Simples :D
