If you look for thermostat housings on the mini parts websites you should get some piccies. You can interchange all the 'stat housings but you might need to alter the top hose too.

I'm not sure why you'd want 2 temp gauges, you could just fit a thread adapter in the original hole. Most aftermarket sensors are nptf because it's a taper thread and will seal on the threads of any similarly threaded hole. The original 5/8unf fitting has a taper seat, like a brake union.

i wasnt after 2 guages, i wanted one accurate one which would show fluctuations which are much less severe.

ive got the standard clocks, so if i put in an after market one i dont really want the one next to my fuel level to become obselete, as it will look daft if it doesnt work.
