I have for sale a Pre A+ 998 short engine that was rebuilt approx 10,000 miles ago. This will come with a 12G295 head skimmed to suit and a 544 camshaft. Spec is as follows;

12G295 head skimmed to suit non cooper pistons. Stripped and checked approx 1000 mile ago.
544 camshaft with duplex timing gear
Cooper dizzy.

I've also got the gearbox and transfer gears etc I ran with this engine if needed (clutch only around 1000 miles old!)

Not sure mate....was only a +0.030 so nothing too drastic there was a thread somewhere on here that gave the various displacements with boring out etc.

£50 extra for the g/box and associated bits.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but I was just wondering how much you had skimmed off the 295 for it to work with the flat pistons?

Can't remember sorry mate. Was some fairly easy calculations to work it out though!

Well 0-60 was around 11 seconds I seem to remember so quicker than a 998. Was a very nice engine to drive with power throughout the range. I never had it on a rolling road but was told it should be around the 65bhp mark.

Will consider splitting the head and engine for the right price.

It was running when removed. But has since been split from the g/box so will need putting back together again. I have most of the bits needed to this if your interested (would be after £30 for all the g/box bits as the clutch is only 2000 miles old or less).
