i'll find out my previous pic of the install that went into my modded Mayfair...

I had a semi-wall behind the front seats with a pair of Rockford Fosgate 15" 2,000wRMS

underneath, was mounted the JBL A6000GTi on a sliding platform (very heavy amp...and large)

either side of the JBL was a pair of Fane 10" PA drivers, wired in parallel (to give 4 ohms) and couple to a pair of PA Bullet Tweeters. This section was powered by a JBL 300.4, configured into dual bridge-mode (if i remember it then provides about 300wRMS per channel into 4ohms...hence the paired Fanes') The 300.4 was mounted in the boot.

I had plenty of space in the boot to mount a couple more amps, maybe for the door cards & dash mounting.

Under the A6000Gti was where i installed 4 Yellow-Top Batteries, providing 220Ah.

All the cabling from Alternator to batteries and to amps was 0 guage.

The rear battery was removed and placed where the heater matrix was (no heating  ) ...in hindsight i could have left it in the boot, but i had no definite plans for the boot fitting)

Alternator was upgraded to a 150A Bosch.

....buying amps & speakers is fine, the hidden costs of providing the essential power is enormous as well. (that 150A alternator + batteries only provided a 20% Duty cycle) + you'll need to upgrade the suspension when you go into extreme power levels.

The first time i tested the system, i took it through some country lanes on the way to get some petrol....cranked up the A6000 (using an Alpine Phantomface at the time) it was incredibly loud. On the way back (after about 10 mins) a large branch had fell across the road! The shockwave was that powerful (it wasn't a windy or rainy day!)

The project has been abandoned at the moment, i have no workshop and had to work on the Mini on the front drive...not the best given the English summers

well.... iv got 8 12" speakers for mid range. 5 15" mid range 2 12 inch subs and 4 high range speakers sitting here.. might have alot of trouble getting them in the car tho... as for amps etc i have a load of them sitting round here... some peaveys some mosfets...its basically my p.a system that i use for my gigs... not sure on exact power but id say its over 3k.. was worried about possibly breaking windows aswell.... :S

you could build a small trailer with a petrol generator providing 230v. Although a lot of competitions don't allow for external power or amplification.
Another option is heavy duty inverters, the downside is you'll lose round 10-20% power through inversion. (12v to 230v then back down to amp voltage!)

If you know your electronics, you could strip your PA amps down and build a more efficient inverter, removing the transformer & rectifier, and replace with a 12v to what-ever voltage your amp needs. (i have seen a DIY car amp around 15 years ago, using 4x 150w Maplin Mosfet kits & 2x bridging modules (i'm sure it was around 2x600wRMS into 4ohm...casual now, back then it was powerful). He built a 12v to 110v inverter using a transformer backwards)

the blue clubman in the video is my mates. Its running 4 x 15" subs currently and it topped out last year at 160db. he jumped from the 175 mark to 160 with a bit of tweaking but the thing that done it was top quality sound proofing. and you need to make sure you get the right port size to get big numbers. I had a real budget £100 system with was 1 x 12" sub 2 x 6" in the dash and 1 amp but it was set up right so i walked away with 129bd which was higher then some more expensive systems and good marks on sound quality.

Who's is the blue clubman with demo car written on it in the video above? I noticed he was in Colchester Mini Club...?

It may not have been a clubman looking at it?

I talked with the guy who owns the blue clubman at the SMD. He is on the Talk Audio forum but I cant remember his name.

That sound proofing on his roof was like tapping concrete! It was so solid I can see where he got the improvements.

Getting 129dB isn't bad with 1x12" & 1xamp, what sort of power are you running? I'm running a similar set up with 1x10" Alpine sub & 1x4ch JL Audio amp (bridged to about 150Wrms) and I got 125.6dB which I thought wasn't too bad. I'm going to be installing a Fusion D-class to power the sub soon so should hopefully be over 130dB.

Hey there guys and gals... im thinking about going for the title of worlds loudest mini... if its worth me doing then i might be mounting my two JBL TR 125 PA speakers in the back of the car.. there 225 watt rms each but they peak at 900 watts... thats 1800 watts peak from 2 15" speakers and 4 tweeters was also thinking about mounting a 500 watt bass bin in there aswell some were..... now i have the amp and everything ready... all i need to do is get an idea of what you guys think of this???

should i do it!?!?!?!

Talk about bringing a knife to a gunfight...

I saved a picture of Pbrains system a little while ago, hope he doesnt mind.

That is mental, I think the OP may have a bit of work to do in order to get the loudest mini. But if your serious about it and have a large budget for it.

Go for it!!!!

i'm glad you've got this, i've got it stored on my server somewhere.

As you can see, this was taken during the initial install, those Fosgates weigh an absolute ton, trying to hold in place and install the fixing bolts was hard work, i reckon they're around 30-40Kgs each.

The A6000Gti was on a sliding platform to allow access to the rear connections.

The 4 Yellow-tops was fed by a 250A relay, this was only active when ignition was on & HU was on, this allowed the system to be run without engine running and not worry about a flat starter battery. 4x 250A resetable fuses linked to the input of the A6000Gti

The little connector block (in the bottom right hand corner) was to allow quick change of the filter capacitors for the tweeters high-pass frequency.

On the driver's door is a remote control volume panel for bass amp & mid/high amp, this allowed me to turn the volume up without sitting inside!

Despite making large branches fall from trees, the porting didn't work. i couldn't find any data on the Team Fosgates, so i based the ports on the slot designs for the Fosgate Power HX2's and increased the sizes to allow for the increased air-flow...no good!

I've pulled the speakers, amps & batteries out...the car has been sitting in a garage for over a year now abandoned, it's a real shame, but i haven't the time or place to work on it.

i'm in two minds to leave it for a possible re-install in the future or sell the extreme stuff and put the Mini back to an 'every-day' car

those team fosgate subs love huge ported boxes, a good rule of porting is for every cu ft^3 of air, 10sq in of port for "sq installs" and 15sq inch of port for "spl" type installs

im guessing you had the box set up in a 2chamber style, so how many cu ft per side after port and sub was the sub seeing?
also it looks like the box is made only from one layer of wood, im guessing 3/4in thick, so the box had to flex like crazy with that kind of power and those subs

I did draw the box layout and sizes somewhere, it's probably lying around the garage floor! Yes, they are 2 separate boxes, the top & bottom panels are 25mm MDF, while the sides are 2 panels (Ply & MDF) totalling around 45mm. The gap between the boxes & car panels was filled with expanding foam, which done a fantastic job of stiffening.

The front panel was 15mm ply, this was plenty due to the fact of the small distances between panelling & the massive subwoofer frame.
