Hmmm, I think I may have found my tyre! When you say at the expense of durability, what kind of difference are we looking at? Very generally speaking, half the mileage of an A059? And would those tyres be classed as a 'modification' with a typical insurance company, do you think?

I'm not too sure how they compare with other tyres, my A032s last a few hundred miles because the camber settings were out.
And no, they shouldn't be classed as a modification with your insurance company.

Eek, not quite what I was expecting! So is it out of the question to get 1k miles out of the A032s (or A048s) with average, quite careful driving? What mileage would I expect out of the A059s? My Dad aims to get about 40k miles out of the Michelins on his Pug 406, but are Mini tyres in a completely different league and thus expected to wear quicker?

13 x 7 Superlights. I've always liked them, i think they look good with the Sportspack arches.
I also like Starmags though. If i get another mini i think i would put it on 12's with different arches and go for a different look.

For someone who is scared of insurers (or perhaps they're scared of me, being a newbie driver an' all that jazz...), what tyre would you guys recommend for a grippy/fairly durable 12" steelie wheel? They're standard wheels of a 1275GT but they feel a little slippy and are possibly MOT failures for the condition of the rubber. I'm thinking A059s - appropriate for a standard suspension setup? And what width?

Got 7x13" superlites on my mini, with the sportspack arches looks brilliant.
