how did you fit the hubcaps to wellers? just welded the centre of the standard wheels in?
No my Wellers had the traditional centre in from the factory.
Pic courtesy of Mini Wheel Dictionary.

I love them wheels and that look. Really wish i still had my clubby estate still.
Cheers I think they're probably the best Mini related purchase I've made so far.

the wellers do look good, ill be doing it to my cooper s reverse rims though
apologies to the purists
actually, no apologies, you should have bought them first
There your wheels, do with them as you please!

Are you painting them black also?!
We have enough people to start our own Black banded reverse rim club!! Maybe we should push for our own sub section on tmf?! PMSL.

a one inch stretch is nothing though is it? i mean you get the driftr boys who are running like 17" rims with tyres that are ment to be on 14/15's. got to admit the EURO look is amazing
so you know more than tyre manufactures
Thats a bit harsh Bungle, did he say he knew best? All he said was that drift boys stretch their tyres A LOT, like this 195 on a 9.5" wide rim. 195's should be on around a 6" rim. they do it for looks, so the tyres dont scrub the arches when drifting (which I know first hand can be a problem), and so there is no flex in the sidewall so it is easier to break traction sideways. The serious guys who can afford to burn 12"+ wide tyres also do it.

This is all very true! Plus the older F1 cars used to have stretch on them too and they never had problems with it.
But thats going off the banded steelies topic... I love the look of them and see no problem with them at all! Providing they are done properly.

The drift and Dub boys stretch the width of a tyre not the diameter.

theres difference to an ordinary stretch you might see on a DUB compaired to the stretch which may be designed into a tyre such as an F1 car would run....they dont just pop down to tyres-r-us for some yokos
Very true, but the essence is still there.

For a start it would be impossible to stretch the bead of a 14" tyre to fit a 17" rim without some SERIOUS power, which without doubt would destroy the bead, its just not possible.
Second, as said, they stretch the width of the tyre, which is possible, although it lends itself to bead popping far more, as the tyre is constantly trying to pull its sidewalls straight again. This is fine for racing and drifting where the tyres are only used for a few hours at the very most then binned (Less for drifting i guess as they will go through tyres at a rate of knots), where as with every day the tyres will be exposed to far worse conditions over a longer period. (temperature change, pot holes, extended cornering and constant high speed motorway miles)
The best solution would be stretched tyres with beadlockers, We do this alot in the offroad racing scene, normally just locking the outside bead with a bolt on ring to secure it in place, however split rings with a tube insert inside (So as the rim is tightened, it tightens the bead against the rigid tube inside, sandwiching them between the wall of the rim and locking them in place. And finally Staun bead locks which are an inflatable affair that again go inside the tyre and lock it on. Not sure if there available for such small wheels mind, i would doubt it.
