hello, im now in a job where i will soon be able to afford to build my very own vtec mini either a b16 or b18, so this lead to a discussion because i would love to have 10" wheels on a vtec mini but my mates dont think i could do it, what are peoples thoughts??

just make sure you have some proper decent brakes on it!

this is one of the big problem, could i get good enough brakes? and could i get the power down?

you should be able to get the power down i think

and 4 pots, rear brake disc convertion, Servo assiasseted should help

ill just have to be careful with the pedal of joy lol

lovely sorted as soon as ive got enough money ill sort that out, ive made my mind up im gonna have a b16 running on 10" wheels lol

you also need the right ratio's in the box aswell. check out this forum http://www.16vminiclub.com/forums/ all the info you will need will be on there Id also love a vtec'd 10" wheeled mini

As above, nothing wrong with vtec on 10's providing you got the correct (or as best as you can get) gearing, brakes aint a problem

Jammy was looking into doing something very similar

a search of old topics using his name might bring something up

from memory the problem was the gearing even using a diesel box

You only need to change the Final Drive, best bet is to use a standard B16 box and change the FD to a 3.4 one which is available from Watsons

The Watsons FD is known to 'whine' on decleration though, but this just adds a bit more character to the car on the move also if you run a 1.6 box without the Watsons FD on 10's it will be 'interesting' to drive, here is a 1.6 box using the Watsons FD and thats on 12's

They are only offering to make the same 3.4 FD that Watsons make as it looked like Watsons couldn't make them anymore - but they can now, but yes the american place can make any FD you want, not sure if Watsons can aswell, never asked them........

Not sure what FD you need with 10's but I'm sure someone over on 16v can work it out

the lucky thing is im gonna need alot of money to do this anyway because im only 17 which luckly my job will provide very nicely so money wont be an issue which is quite nice
