I was all excited because I can answer this question as I'm an Air Rifel instructor and a member Of The NSRA (National Small Bore Rifel Association) but every one has answered it for me , you must be 18 to carry one in public and it must be in a case (it doesn't have to be a hard case it can be in a Rifel bag) but the pellets must be kept and carried in a separate bag case. And as stated befor of the muzzle velocity is less or the same as 12foot lb then you don't need a licence but if its more then you do.

cheers for the quick reply guys unfortunatley me and my dad came to the conclusion that me being in the situation that i am in under 18 and living in a built up area that it would be to hard to own a air gun. so we came to the conclusion to sell it so its gone to the local gun dealer, im 18 in about 7 months so i may wait till im old enough.I only want to use my gun for target shooting and small game hunting but its alot of responsibility and there is a lot of potential for getting into serious trouble if missused. the main problem being my dads not to happy about having a gun in the house as we live in an urban area and my gardens not big enough for responsible use. i want to get into the sport and take it seriously i just dont want to be classed as a common idiot that buys a cheap gun and ends up shooting the neighbours cat. so cheers for the replys and ill take in to account all thats been said.
